Acer 5920 Laptop CD/DVD drive doesnt read disc.

    hi i have just recently purchased an acer 5920 laptop within the last month and am having problems with the cd/dvd drive.

    it doesnt load up any cd or dvd which is inserted into the drive.

    i have tried a number of different cds and dvds, and it still doesnt seem to work. the drive has been detected and is enabled in the device manager.

    please could you help me solve my problem?

    if laptop is new then send it back for warranty replacement.

    thats the thing. id rather diagnose the problem and sort it out myself. i hate sending things back, co they wont take care of it.

    i always take care of my things. they might handle it without care.

    uninstall the drive in device manager & restart windows so it can find new hardware & load it's driver.
