acursed windows sercurity alert pop ups :@ help please!

hi guys

sorry for the ubrupt title but these dam popups are doing my nut in

it started when i came home today i had recently had that nasty windows live messenger virus about 2 weeks ago however i manged to rid that from the computer using super anti spy ware and everything was running fine

however i got home today switched the computer on logged on and the system went nuts windows sercurity alert this spyware alert that and my homepage had even changed to some ultimate cleaner crap i tryed to change it back to google but it just kept on changing back

i also noticed that my mcafee subsciption had run out and thought that this may of been the problem and went and re bought mcafee which set me bak £30

anyway i instaled that and a fat lot of use it did i am still getting the pop-ups and this little red X thing came up on my toolbar and i didnt even install it

can somebody please help me get rid of this annoying problem

it sounds like you have spyware on your computer, there are several options:
1. download windows defender and run a scan to get rid of your spyware,http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx
2. run this powerful online scanner, which you will need internet explorer for, http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
if that scanner doesn't work use this one, it is just as good, http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/default.asp?langid=ie&venid=sym , you will also need to use internet explorer to perform this online scan.

post back to tell me when you have done at least one of these steps.
