I don't beleive CC is available for the VCD format. If you want to capture CC for DVD format and are using WinTV PVR 250 capture card, I can send you the registry files that enable CC capture. Thanks.

thx... I have a ATI 9200 that I get a CC file from in either .rtf/.html/.txt but I need to find out how to add it to the .mpg afterwards because it doesn't save it like that when I record the show on the TV Card.
It’s my understanding that CC is already part of the MPEG stream. I assume what you’re referring to is CC and not subtitles. Many authroing programs put the CC on the DVD, it's just a matter of letting your DVD player know it's there. So, use your authoring program and create the VIDEO_TS folder. Then: 1. Run IfoEdit. 2. In the lower left hand corner, click "Open". Navigate to the VIDEO_TS folder you just created on your hard drive. Open the file VTS_01_0.IFO. 3. In IfoEdit's upper window, click on VTSI_MAT 4. In the lower window, scroll down until you see "[00000200] Video attributes of VTSTT_VOBS". Double click on it. In the Video attributes window that pops up, under "CC for line 21" select the box beside "field 1 in GOP" You can also click on “field 2 in GOP” 5. Click OK. 6. At the bottom of the IfoEdit window, click the Save button. Make sure you're still in the same directory where you opened the IFO file. (I say this because I've seen IfoEdit go to a directory I used weeks ago...and as I'm typing this, it did it again!) Click on "Save". When you're asked "Save it as .BUP as well", click OK. Now you're ready to burn the DVD folders. Hope this is useful.

(The desktop is a convenient place.) 2) Double click on its icon. (It's named cc.reg) If you have created any custom recording configurations (different bit rate, etc.), they will be wiped out. If you are using very old drivers, this will not work! 3) Reboot. 4) Start WinTV2000. 5) Tune to a channel you know has closed captioning. 6) Click on WinTV2000's menu button. From the menu select "Options" then "Closed Captioning". You should see a small "CC" below WinTV2000's stereo indicator. (WinTV2000 doesn't remember the CC setting, you must turn it on from the menu every time you run WinTV2000.) 7) You should see the captions. (If you don't, record the channel for a few seconds. There seems to be a bug where the captions don't always show up when they should.) To see the captions in a file recorded by the PVR-250/350, you'll have to play it back in WinTV2000. It’s the black border on the TV screen with white letters. You can turn it on/off with your TV remote control. How did you figure this method out? Well, I watch a lot of Britcoms so I need CC to figure out what they are saying. For some reason, PVR 250 ignores CC data. So, create a registry file and enable PVR 250 to let the CC data through. CC is different from subtitles. Another user in another forum literally walked me through the CC capture and burn process. If you do create a reg file, don't include the last sentence from the previous post in the reg file. Thanks.
Okay I have to vent this out first....arghhh my reply got totally wiped out and now I have retype my whole reply again TT__TT Wow sunyam0 that quite an impressive reply I'll try to summarize the steps you listed and ask questions as I go along so please bare with moi. 1) Update drivers. Don't worry I only use the predefined settings that are listed. Are you telling me to update the WinTV2000 and WinTV PVR 250 drivers. Is for the WinTV2000 driver update? Is for the WinTV PVR 250 driver and I'm guessing I should get the Hauppauge WinTV-PVR 250/350 WinTV-PVR 250/350 Drivers 1.8.22170 <<- for Windows98SE/ME/2000/XP under the driver section. Also should I uninstall the old drivers first? 2) Download the IFOEdit and follow instructions to run program. Where am I suppose to save the .BUP file? I'm assuming the same directory as where I opened the VTS_01_0.IFO which is in the VIDEO_TS folder. Which version should I use IFOEdit096(newest) or IFOEdit095(stablest) from http://www.ifoedit.com/? Some additional questions I had are what do I do with the CC.reg I created? Do I place this file somewhere? What is the purpose of this file? I think the goal is to have WinTV2000 see this CC.reg file and it will start recording CC right? So do I need to tell WinTV2000 where this CC.reg file exists like through an open file dialogue kind of thing? Do the recordings that I already performed have CC on the mpeg file already and is it just a matter of enabling WinTV200 to display CC? Or is it after I perform the steps you listed then I will have CC embedded on the mpeg files? Meh...I think this is the all the questions I had to ask but just really angry that my reply got wiped.
