    Hey all

I was looking on the net and found that you can download skins for your xbox dashboard....can anyone help me with info on installing them? I've downloaded a few of them but have no idea on how to use them. I'm sure it's simple but if someone could let me know how to load these downloaded skins that would be great. Thanks a lot.

You can't upload new skins to the standard Microsoft dashboard because you would have to FTP into your xbox, which means you need to have a dashboard, which means you need to have a modded xbox.

If you mean Evox or Avalaunch or some other type of dashboard, then all you have to do is upload it to E:Skins or something like that. Look in your E: folder or C: folder for it. I'm not at home so I can't FTP right now.

Well then it's really simple. Just FTP the desired skin FOLDER to your Xbox in the skins folder.

my terminology sucks :) What I meant to ask is that you know those backgrounds you see that show the IP address of the xbox, the remaining disk space, the status of the D:, etc. I downloaded some of those backgrounds and wanted to put them on my xbox. So you're saying I just unzip the files I downloaded so that I am left with the folders, then dump them into the same folder on my xbox where "skins" are located?

I'll give that a try. Thanks a lot.

well first you have to tell us what xbox chip you have and what dashboard the skins are meant for. they sound like EvoX skins from information you have given.

Yeah, if it's EvoX skins then that is all you do. Easy :) I have EvoX installed (softmod).

i downloaded a bunch of skins off of one major skin websites for evox (i forgot what the site was called).

i unzipped and transfered to the skin folder, and only like 6 of them show up out of 30, 2 of them work fine, the other 4 have a dark background and look like a messed up microchip covering the screen.

anyone heard of this happening before?

Yeah it worked...I just dumped the skins into the appropriate folder on the xbox hard drive and it worked. Now that I know where they are I can just delete all the crappy ones I have :)

these downloaded skins normally come in a folder when unzipped. I have had some without folders with a couple of jpeg files and one config file. I just named a folder the same as the file download and transfered to c:/ skins. Jobs done.
So just remember they must be in a folder for the skins to work properly.
