Are the warnings about using aftermarket batteries and chargers by the OEM of camcorders valid? I would consider buying an off brand charger if it does'nt damage my camcorder. Any Help?
I have a Canon Optura 20 and also purchased the mega BP535 (3.5 hr batt). I'm using a cheap off-brand battery charger without problem -- it was nice too because it came with a cord to connect to my car's outlet -- which is awesome for a road trip. I haven't had any problems yet. I trust it more than charging it with the camcorder. You may have worse luck with different camcorder brand and batteries.
