Hi, i have both a samsung and thomson dvd-rom for my xbox, there is no doubt in my mind that the samsung is better BUT philips dvd+r works on thomson but does not work on samsung! this is the only media i know that does this. (by the way philips dvd+rw work on both)
Its not news that Samsung drives are better than Thompsons. Some drives are picky about the media some are not as picky. I have had disks that worked fine in one drive and not work in the exact same drive on a different xbox. And phillips dvd+r work just fine on a My samsung drive. My advice is: Once you find a media that works good on your xbox just stick with it.
