Can movies from a Hi-8 Camcorder be tansferred to a Digital Camcorder and then transferred to a PC, thereby essentially using the Digital Camcorder as a analog to digital capture device. If so, what inputs and outputs would the Digital Camcorder require and any recommended Digital Camcorders. Thanks

To answer the first part of your question; yes. As long as it has an analogue input.

As for the connections, that would depend on what camcorder you buy. As for a recommendation, I don't have one for you.

Well the DV Camcorder would have to have a RCA/Composite or S-Video input and an Analoge RCA/Composite Audio Input but hopefully 2 Audio Inputs for sterio and that is about it....
Most camcorders will let you transfer the analogue to digital and to your PC without recording to DV Tape first....
The only potential problems I can for see is Maybe haveing your cam corder turned on for really long times might not ne a good idea, and there is a Potential for Sync problems over Long movies because there is no audio Lock feature on Camcorders like Most Good Analogue Digital converters...If you are Planning on getting a DV Camcorder anyways then Look for those specific features when Buying....Cheers
