Just bought a Canon ZR85, and I want to transfer some old VHS-C tapes onto my computer for editing. I have my analog camcorder hooked up to the ZR85 with the AV cable and the ZR85 hooked to the computer with FireWire. When I play the analog video I can see it playing in a Windows preview window.

My question is whether I can now record/capture the video that is passing through using something like Windows MovieMaker, Pinnacle or ULead? If so, how do I go about doing this because I cannot seem to figure it out.

If not, then do I have to record my analog tape onto a MiniDV tape and then capture that with my software?

    Both ways will work.
