romantic comedies... Onegai Teacher and Onegai Twins are great, definetly others out there just can't remember others right now. But for comedy only, you must see Excel Saga, Puni Puni Poemi, Azumanga Daioh and Jungle wa Itsumo Hale nochi Guu. Haven't ever seen any better comedys than those... yeah okey... those are all quite weird, but still ^_^ And on the other end of spectrum, if you want to get debressed(sp) watch saikano or evangelion... =)
well oriphus, I guess your basing your opinion to western style cartoons and/or generally crappy anime serieses that just has tendency to get into tv (dragonballs, sailor moon, pokemon, etc. all suck). I would suggest for you to see at least one episode of a good anime show, there is great deal mentioned in this thread, then you would (hopefully) understand that there is more in anime than generally is thought by ignorant ppl. =) Or perhaps your just as paranoidic about your reputation, or just afraid to become an otaku like the rest of us =P, so that you won't touch anime even with a long stick. But it's your loss =), I can't force you and it is quite shame that some just don't want to see the truth. Of cource(sp) we can't expect all to like same stuff... But just try to be open minded =).

Its not that i dont want to watch any cartoons (i dont really though), its just that saying a cartoon character is sexy is a bit weird. Then again that cartonn film (i forget the name). They lived inside domes because of the big spirit creatures, etc... and they were trying to find the 7 spirits. Damn what do you cal it. Anyway, the animated woman in it was done very sexy, she nearly looked life-like.
Oriphus, your talking about Final fantasy, I think. Or I could be wrong. The mainstream movies that hit threatres weren't bad, but you should see some of the anime tv series. The movies, that I consider mainstream were Aikra, Jin Roh, Spirited away, Princess Mononaky (sp?). I also think I am older then you Oriphus, turning 25 this year.
And if it's FF you're talking about, it's not actually an anime as it's fully made in 3D and trys to be life-like. Anime isn't just a cartoon, many of anime serieses have a story that is bit hard to understand, no matter how old or "intelligent" you are. I think most animes dosen't really fit for kids even if those woudn't have anything visually offencive, story is just simply falling to same catgory as most non-anime serieses/movies.
Hey everybody I've just finish watching AI YOri Aoshi and it's a great anime shows. It's very fun to watch. And about the things you guy are talking about anime I think are mostly for teens and adults, because on the age rating most of them said 13 and up or some said 16 and up, some even said only 18 or older. So It's like cartoon for adult. Well that's all again thank for posting a lot of anime shows on this thread. By the way the anime show I'm watching right now is Chobits. It's seem pretty good.
Well the way I see it, if you can understand adult concepts that are portrayed in anime that are geared towards people that are 18 and above, and you yourself are not in that age group, then it doesnt matter.

I don't really care whether a hot girl is a cartoon or not. I just think that whenever a girl registers in my mind as "hot damn", she's hot and that's it. Lol, shes an alien. I didnt care much for silent mobius, not that it was bad, its just i couldnt get involved with the story or the characters. Cowboy Bebop on the other hand is one of the best in my view.

Back from the anime convension. It was amazing! Recomendations: Rune Soldier- comedy quest fantasy type animation. RahXephon- for the Twin Peak fans, complex and entertaining. Heat Guy J- looks ok from the first 2, Mobster plot lots of action. Fake- this was really funny, The only anime that has a male to male focus. .hack/SIGN - pretty cool series, adventure in a game, with desent plot. Witch Hunter Robin - Amazing action, to be release later in October GTO- Really funny, about a crazy ex gang member becomes a teacher. I thought were terible: Love Hina Again- to be realized later, rally bad story, lots of nudity. Sakura Taisen- just really terrible, bad plot and really bad mixture of CG with anime. Ok, need to see more: Noir X Hellsing S-Cry-ed Vampire Princess Miyu OVA Also the AMV (anime music videos) were amazing. Everyone needs to see the Weird Al Yankovic, one to the eminin song. That I thought was the best. Also a really good one to Ramstein song. Oriphus, You should see some AMV's that will get you into anime. They are anime scenes or series to music. Other then the anime, the sales were amazing I saved over $200 on what I would regularly pay. Oh course did spend way too much. Lots of hard to find things were there.
Hey evrybody it's me again I've finished watching Chobits and start watching a few shows of Mahoromatic and it was that great, kind of too much nudity. So I din't watch it any more after 6 episode and start watching GTO. Well see you guy.

Hey I only missed spelled one letter, I must be geting better. Hentai, is cartoon porn. Also called echiee (sp?) In Japanese hentai means pervert and echiee has similar meaning. Some shows have some pantie shots, but just for jokes. Others are little too much and I usually refer to them as hentai. Other good fantasy anime was Utena. I didn't see Inu Yasha, but my brother said ok, a fantasy quest comedy. An ok battle suit anime was Argentosoma, but I think I have seen it many times before under the SARG name. I didn't like Mahoromatic, seemed really weird. I left after 10min in, Spirt of Wonder also seemed weird, I didn't stay for that one either. To be accurate, the way anime community takes it, hentai is used for anime porn and ecchi for nudity. Those are used to categorize serieses and movies, like horror, action, comedy, etc. But for anime there is a lot more of those like mecha, ecchi etc. www.animenfo.com is a great place for general anime info and www.baka-updates.com lists newest fansub releases.
