Your firmware is ancient, current version is BSOY and can be found here: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1934 DMA needs to be enabled for all drives...here is a guide: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260038 This is Roxio's driver that creates alot of conflicts whtn burning with Nero, I suggest removing Roxio in its entirety from your PC...here is a clean tool. http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Roxio-Zap.shtml

Not really without losing a lot of quality. Most prefer widescreen. Use the zoom function and fill your screen. It'll work about as well.
