    Hello
I recieved my THEBOX PVR today and when i scan it comes up with 0 programmes.
I have trwled through other posts on here and i am not the only one with this problem it seems.
The box i have is not a copy
it has the latest ver 4500 6 july 2007 thingy on it
people keep mentioning EMU, i have no idea what EMU is or stands for, when i select parental control and the input 2007 in the pin code area i am taken to anther window with autoupdate option at the bottom, i have selected this to say on. Is this the EMU thingy?
When i select manual scan the two bars on the right for signal strenth both say 0%, is this normal.

i have taken my box to a mates house who has a starview box and it doesn't work there either. i brought his box home with me and his box works at my house so i know its my box that is at fault.

Please help as i am at my whits end with this

    Hi
First you must scan for channels.Goto installation menu, then use right arrow button on remote control to select the correct cable provider for your area, then do an auto scan. If you still get no channels found or stored you may have a signal problem. Make sure you are in the Cable input socket at the back of receiver as its easy to put lead into wrong socket. If you are still struggling ask you mate to check your cable with his box at your house.

First you'll have to do an automatic scan for all the channels. Then, press menu then 1570 then scroll down to EMU and switch it to on, then press okay and exit all the way back.

You may have to do automatic scan numerous times and let it run till the end

menu 1570 does not work on PVR

Go to parental control in receiver menu
    press ( i or info button) + (2007)
key and emu buttons should now be visible
switch key emu to on position
go to scrambled channel and wait for update .

Its info then 2007 when in the parental control menu for thebox pvr, not 1570, 1570 is for thebox (non pvr)

    i press the menu button
    i select "system setup"
    i select "parent control"
a widow appears that says "change pin"
i press info button then 2007
a new window opens with "SEGA, VIACCESS1,11, IRDETO/BETACRYPT, NAGRAISION 1,11, CONAX and AUTOPDATE, is this the EMU everyone is n about?
i turn the autoupdate to on.

    Hi
The only other thing I can suggest is to make sure you are scanning for your correct provider in your area, this must be correct. Use the right arrow button on your remote when you have 'Cable Network', Top item selected in the installation menu and go between TW,NTL,ExC&W,OM,Ch*r*s, then autoscan. Ask your mate what area provider he scanned to get his working, then try an autoscan.

    Hi
You have not answered my last post to you re : Cable Network selection. Goto Menu/Installation. When highlighted on 'cable network' are you using right arrow button on your remote control to select your correct cable provider prior to a scan? which should be the same provider as your mates if he is in the same area as you.

I've mainly scaned selecting N*L as thats the cable company providing my house and my mates house, i have tried scanning using all the other providers as well with no luck.
It seems that loads of other people are in the same situaton as myself looking at other posts on the forum so i'm sending the PVR back and going to buy a different box.
    Thanks for all your help

It dosen't matter if the codes are right or wrong when scanning for channels , you only need these to view them after they are scanned

    Hi
Looks like your only alternative left is to send back.
Can you ask for a relacement because I find TheBox PVR a super machine and a lot less simpler to use than the network connected boxes. Once scanned auto update, twin tuner, ideal.

Hi goggon27 i have just sorted out my box pvr it was a wiring problem at the back i made a classic error in putting the cable feed into ANT IN instead of cable 1 input. then the loop cable goes to cable loop 1 output to ANT IN and then your cable from tv out into the tv try that and see what happens .I then ran autoscan and hey presto loads of channels HAPPY DAYS . THANKS SCOUSER and JBVIDEO

Woot i have got it working at long last
In a last ditch attempt i decieded to sit there and do scan after scan after scan. after about half an hour during one of the scans the screen changed for 2 seconds and i got 10 channels, but when i did another scan nothing. this got me thinking that it may be a signal problem. i followed the cable from the N*L in feed to my TV and found that a strech of cable in the loft was cheap arial cable not good sat cable. i replaced it did a scan and woot undreds and hundreds of channels. looks like the pvr box needs more of a signal boost than the old starview box.

Thanks for all your help guys you have been great
