I'm new here! Alot of great info! My question is i have an external DVD-Rom drive (16X Read only) that i want to use to rip dvd's onto my hard drive but it is veeery slow ripping it. I get the following message when i turn on the external drive "THIS USB DEVICE CAN PERFORM FASTER IF YOU CONNECT IT TO A HIGH-SPEED USB 2.0 PORT. FOR A LIST OF AVIALABLE PORTS, CLICK HERE" But the thing is is ALL my USB ports are the high speed USB 2.0 ports. Now i just don't understand why i get this message. Please help. Thanks!

Are you sure ALL your USB ports are USB2? I've only gotten that message when I've connected to a USB1 port.

Yes. As a matter of fact, it says it just below all the USB ports.

My Dell has about 8 USB ports. Not all are high speed.Maybe you are using the wrong one. :)

Don't forget, your usb cable also has to be hi-speed(2.0). There's usually a label on the cable that says its hi-speed.
