Thanks for all replies. I am home for a quick lunch and will try hi-speed tonight when I have more time. FYI, it is a program from an S-VHS master recorded to the 300 HDD. Keep info coming! VMG
VMG I think you have already been given the answer to your high speed dubbing problems. You can forget trying to high speed dub the SVHS program you have already transferred to the 300 HDD. Without selecting the high speed dubbing option beforehand you can't do it. You will have to transfer it again but before doing so try doing this:- 1. Press Start Menu 2. Select "Other Settings 1" ( second line, last item) 3. Press "select enter" 4. scroll across to "adjustment" 5. scroll down to "option setting" 6. You then have the option to select HI SP dub priority 7. Select yes and return. Transfer again your svhs to the HDD and you should be able to dub the new title at hi-speed on to DVD. With only a 20 min SVHS to dub 20 times, I reckon you could still do this in 10 hrs at normal dubbing i.e. if you still can't get the Sharp to high speed dub. Best of luck, Silver
Hey Silver, glad to hear from you ole buddy. Also happy that you were able to address the high-speed issue. I knew you wouldn't let me down. ...."Keep the printed side up, and the shiney side down old friend" kind regards, Manny
Hi there VMG (Don)If you are reading this forum again I would really like to know if you managed to Hi speed dub your svhs program to DVD with the Sharp? You said you had to have the 20 discs competed by 11/06/04. Did it go OK?
Hi. Do you know that a soft release exists for DV-HR300 ? This release make picture better and resolve Timer problems.
Thanks Peyob, NO! I didn't know that, is the fix available for download somewhere? Do you have the URL? This is great news, if true.
Hi Peyob. I don't have a problem with the picture quality and (hopefully) I don't seem to have a problem with the Timer. However for the benefit of other members of this forum. 1. Can you tell us how to get the software update and 2. Can you advise how to install it Many thanks, Silver 64
Hi Mannycam, Sorry for butting in on your post. Seems we sent our messages simultaneously! Lets hope we get an answer. Cheers mate!
I have had the release by my vendor. I don't find download for this. I think you must ask where you have bought your sharp.
This information is not a joke. I have bought a DV-HR300F last week. This one had a problem with some DVDs. The vendor had a CD with new soft release and he tries it to solve problem. But, the recorder was off duty. So he gave me another one and before I leave the shop, he ran the release on my new sharp. I have read on the CD that this release solved timer problems and made better picture. The shop where I bought my recorder is a big one in France. They try all models of recorder. Bad is one star, best is four stars. Before this release, laboratory put this recorder with one star. After release, laboratory put it with four stars. I think that I remember that release put operating system in 1.11 release.
Silver64, Sorry for the delay in repsonding. Yes, got all 20 DVD's done!!! Took me about an hour of flipping from section-to-section in the manual, but git it right on the first try. Thanks to everyone who responded to my inquiry on hi-speed dubbing from HDD to DVD (original program on S-VHS saved to Sharp HDD- FYI). I'm sure I'll be back on as I delve deeepr into the capabilities of the 300. Thanks again to all respondents! Don at VMG
Excellent VMG! Good to know all went well and glad to be of service. Manny I can't find any software upgrades on the Sharp Electronics uk website. I haven't had a problem with timer and I'm v.pleased with picture quality but if there is an upgrade I'll be glad to know
Yes, I agree, I love the picture I have already. I haven't actually come across the timer issue, but then again, I haven't needed to use it. But just the same, I too am interested in the software. I couldn't find it on their USA site either. Peyob, We are not at all doubting or disputing your claim, we simply are interested in finding it. Kind regards, Manny
I can confirm what Peyob said about the software release. The shop where I bought my Sharp sent me a letter telling me to bring it back for a firmware upgrade, which I did. It's a simple procedure using a CD to boot the Sharp with. On the CD it was written version 1.11, and that it should improve picture quality, solve timer problem and solve backlight problem under timer. I don't have more info or precision about the exact bugs solved though. I was actually very surprised, because when calling Sharp and their repair center (external company to Sharp here in France), they always say that firmware upgrades exist for this recorder, but that you cannot do it yourself, you have to sent it back etc. So that was just bullshit ?
I have these weird bugs again with the sharp. Does anyone experience the same ? - when dubbing a title to a DVD, sometimes the machine hangs after 10 seconds. I have to reset it and start over again. - when finalizing a DVD, sometimes it hangs as well. And I have to reset, or to unplug the machine most of the time.
Hi. I've another question: after tuning channel TV, I heard an acute sound on two of them. To control, I've connected directly my TV on antenna (without recorder), and this sound isn't here. I've called sharp and they answered me that never they have such a question. I've called a repair service and they said the same answer. Anybody have had this trouble ?
Hi peyob, I haven't noticed that problem. But I don't use the tuner of the sharp much as I find the picture quality really bad on the tuner.
Erikk, I haven't encountered the problem you speak of. How long are you waiting? I know from experience, that finalizing can take a long time sometimes. 2 min. at least.
