I have used Clonedvd2 with anydvd for the past 18 months and have had no problems that wasn't resolved within a week at the most. I tried Dvdfab and Nero and they seem to not be as user friendly as slysoft products. This is how I became devoted to them. But as stated above the more tools you have the better.
sure it is, its less steps than the freeware and easy to use BUT the freeware will yeild you the same results just more hoops to jump though
yeah about the same other than you can use Deep Analysis with dvd shirnk on the higher compressed files to improve the picture quality
I love it!! It's really great now that we have a choice of at least two excellent ripper/transcoding tools. Wasn't that way just a few years ago. This thread just proves that choosing between the two is like choosing between pies and cakes - they're both good and it's just a matter of preference...
I now think that DVDFab Decrypter Platinum has the edge over the Slysoft combo of AnyDVD, CloneDVD and Mobile cloneDVD. It does all of the slysoft things with the single program. Only one to buy!!
I downloaded and used a whole bucket of different programs (but not Slysoft's stuff). I used Fab Platinum for 30 days and then bought it. Fab has been Fabulous. I decrypt 4-6 commercial dvds a week and it has never failed to successfully rip a movie. Great product. Very stable, well-integrated (just one program is all you need) and just plain pretty. Programs whose UI's show good taste--that is, written by artistic programmers--are generally better programs. However, I'm also in love with Slysoft's Virtual Clonedrive. On Vista x32, VCD is rock solid. Even though it is not officially supported on Vista, VCD has never ever failed to play any movie decrypted by Fab. I prefer to use Fab to rip the movie to an ISO on the HD and then play it on VCD. On my dual-core 1.8 Turion with 4gb of ram, it takes Fab about 20-25 minutes to rip a 2-hour movie to ISO. Over time, that's a lot less wear and tear on the dvd device than using it every time you want to watch a movie. Fab has released a great free decrypter and Slysoft has released a great free virtual dvd. I'm typing this on a system running XPx64. Since Slysoft advertises compatibility with XPx64 I think I'll go with AnyDVD/Clone for "The Mighty Kong" (my 64-bit box). Like the man said, more tools is more. m
If you want it to start raining, put on suntan oil. If you want a piece of software to stop working--well, just buy it. It appears that my glowing approbation of DVDFab Platinum was premature. I believe I've uncovered a rather agregious bug. Over the last two months I have experience the following: About 1 out of 5 times, all versions of Fab (including the latest) will start scanning the inserted dvd, the light will go out on the device (indicating a cessation of access), but Fab will just merrily go on scanning and scanning and scanning... Hell, you can even take the dvd out of the device and Fab will scan forever. If you hit Cancel, Fab will lock up tighter than a virgin's--. Ahem. Before yesterday, I thought the problem was either a Vista or a hardware issue. The solution seemed to be to reboot and retry. Until yesterday. Yesterday, Fab wouldn't cease its pathological scanning no matter what I did. I tested 4062 Platinum AND the free 4062 Decrypter under two different OS's (Vista 32 and XP 64), on 2 different computers using a total of 3 different dvd devices. Always the same: pathological scanning and a final lock-up I downloaded and installed AnyDVD/CloneDVD. It ripped the offending dvd to ISO with no problem. The problem is Fab. I have email into Fengtao to try to help clear this up. I BOUGHT Fab; I'd like it to work. My hunch is that it may be episodic formats that wrap Fab around the axle. Damn. m
Spend the money buy AnyDVD and you already have DVD Fab PL-one or the other will almost always git it done!
ALCON, I am using DVDFab Plantinum. Brilliant program, not an issue. Like Any DVD, which I own, both have issues, though rarely, now and then to update in providing the support that we all wish. Both are great programs, take your pick! JPGames
@ Mordaunt I occasionally have the exact same problem as you do with Fab locking up , although I use the free version DVDFab HD Decrypter and not Plat. the symptoms are exactly the same. Also I am running XP so it is not Vista specific. Please keep us informed if you discover a fix for this. Thanks.
i would say anydvd is better all u do is let it run in the backround and dvdshrink will read the disc with no copy protection
To all the DVDFab users, Your problem is your software is outdated - The newest one is 5035. Yes, they came out with 5. I had trouble with the first 3-4 first versions of 5. The bugs have now been worked out. You will have to get a new key/s for Gold/Platinum - Was a slight pain to get my secound key - I had bought both of the version 4's. You can install the 3 separate programs anymore - I run DVDFab Platinum 5035, DVDFab Platinum 4120, DVDFab Gold 4120 and DVDFab HD Decrypter 4120 and all is good. You need to turn off the update option on versions 4. To NEW DVDFab users, If you buy DVDFab Platinum 5 and want the Mobile Option it will cost extra! I and many old users were grandfathered in. Burn On, Russell PS. I also have all the Slysoft Software - Bought when there was a promo code and multiple discounts.
