That wife-feeding part of Mondo Cane was indeed one of the most memorable ones, it was quite obscure example about extremely opposite roles and ideal reqquirements between men and women of foreign cultures, but Africa Addio was toughest case for me: When reading about wars and genocides or watching them from news they seems to be so far away, but when document like that tells much more accurately what really happened covering every detail it really makes to think. I haven't seen Monolith Monsters or Kronos - if you ment that old giant robot movie, at first I was thinking of Guillermo Del Toros's "Cronos" - because 50's B-scifi is one of my knowledge's weak points but both of them seems to be quite tempting ones, I must try to get them. I haven't seen Begotten neither, it's been on my what-to-buy list for forever but I haven't found second-hand copy yet... Smells like Jodorowsky, surrealism and metaphorical hammer blows to poor audience's head.
"Kronos" was a approx. 200-story big machine from another world that stomped around on its 4 cylindrical legs searching and consuming any type of energy. "Monolith Monsters" was about a meteor that landed and these black glasslike bars came out. When they touched water...they suddenly grew up fast and smokin' into pillars of the black stuff. As they got about 500 feet high they would always fall over and shatter...and every little piece began to grow. With rain and their logrithmic growth...it spelt curtains for the earth...but at the last moment an antidote was discovered.
Is this the begotten your talking about? God disembowels himself with a straight razor. The spirit-like Mother Earth emerges, venturing into a bleak, barren landscape. Twitching and cowering, the Son Of Earth is set upon by faceless cannibals. Here it is at amazon. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000541WJ/104-3651481-1719114?v=glance
so was it to disturbing to watch Nephilim or just not very good? looks like a very strange movie by the reviews
Description BEGOTTEN is the creation myth brought to life, the story of no less than the violent death of God and the (re)birth of nature on a barren earth. Astounding and baffling critics and audiences alike, BEGOTTEN was named one of the Ten Best Pictures of 1991 by Time Magazine. Time's Richard Corliss wrote: "Nobody will get through BEGOTTEN without being marked... BEGOTTEN is a spectacular one-of-a-kind (you wouldn't want there to be two), filmed in speckled chiaroscuro so that each image is a seductive mystery, a Rorschach test for the adventurous eye." In production notes for the film, director Merhige commented, "Each shot in the film went through hours of preparation to achieve the look you will experience when viewing... the etheral "pulse" that hypnotically permeates the film. It took over ten hours to re-photograph less than one minute of selected takes
I heard that Spider Man 3 is coming out in the year 2007. I found that out on videoeta.com. They have tons of movie updates.
Stitch--thanks for giving us that website, videoeta.com--really a nice information source. That deserves at least a Big Mac, Super-size fries and a chocolate shake. The hot cherry pies are just too damn dangerous.
I took the kids to see "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". Didn't think it was going to be good, but it was pretty funny. Johnny Depp is one hell of a character. If anyone has seen "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas", then you will notice a lot of the same faces in this movie. I give it a high "C". Not the drink
I agree that Johnny Depp is a good actor, better than the ones who started out when he did. He can make himself many different people when acting, sort of like the best of all--Meryl Streep.
i've watched Castle in the Sky (1986) twice this weekend with the kids, which shows what a good movie it was. gonna watch D.E.B.S. again shortly, my eldest just said "it's a really cool film". it was ok in my opinion, but really i just enjoyed all the short skirts more than i enjoyed the film
My Grandaughter is stuck on the Grinch. I'v had to watch it twice this weekend. Jim Carey is certainly a multifacited actor. Did anyone catch him in the Majestic?
i thought charlie and the chocolate factory was a great movie, but then again i havent watched a tim burtin movie that i havent liked yet he's great! i cant wait to see the copse bride! i also saw war of the worlds and was happy with the way it was done.i am happy to see some of the remakes suppringly....also i just saw the devils rejects ,now being a hard core horror fan ,i liked it but was supprised by the lack of grosse violence after seeing house of 1000 corpses. but my girlfriend thought it sucked though,so i figure if u liked the first one you will most likely like this one.
I saw Majestic, liked it, then I saw Truman Show, loved it, then I saw eternal sunshine. MY FAVORITE of his movies. I have not seen the snicket one yet. couldn't remember the whole title
lemini snickets was good youl like it but it seems alittle darker ,than most carey flicks, youll see what i mean!
