    A test:
In "2001-A Space Odyssey" the evil computer was a "HAL 9000" model.
What is the significance of the use of HAL as the maker? Was there a hidden agenda there?

i watched some of Christmas with the Kranks - i have a nasty feeling if i watch the rest that it's pap as it wasn't rivetting up to the point that i watched to. Surviving Christmas however was pretty good, i enjoyed that one. Saw a version of Oliver Twist with Elijah Wood & Richard Dreyfuss - excellent. Also watched Batteries not Included - excellent and the kids really enjoyed that one too

My wife and I are going to see "North Country" tonight. It was filmed in our area and is a movie about the class action lawsuit against the one particular mining company, here.

Edit: We saw the movie, and it was excellent. There were a few things different then the true story on which it was based. The entire history of the sexual harassment suit is in the book "Class Action".

Some movies worth mentioning that I've seen lately.
    In no particular order.

The Terminal - really good, loved it! Tom Hanks at his finest as usual.

Beauty Shop - loved it! Better than I expected. Kevin Bacon was in it also and so funny in this as a very uptight "bitchy" beauty shop owner. So different for him to play that type of role!

Taxi - not great, but it was funny and a fun light hearted movie to watch. I love the taxi/nascar concept and Queen Latifah was the perfect one to play.

Cold Mountain - excellent! I loved it! A fine story with fine acting.

The Last Samurai - really good in my opinion. Very good film about loyalty and bravery.

Man of the House - with Tommy Lee Jones. It wasn't great, but it was fun and humorous, worth watching. Light hearted comedy. The guys will love this because of the cute cheerleader girls. Tommy Lee Jones was perfect for that role and me being in Texas and them using a Texas college was a + too!

And movies I have here that I haven't seen yet:

Christmas with the Kranks, Million Dollar Baby, Monster in Law, House of Wax, Amityville Horror, Stealth, Batman Begins, Constantine, Hide and Seek, The Ring 2, Are We There Yet, Guess Who, and others .... I am way behind on my movie watching.

I saw "Walk The Line" on the big screen today -- the story is good, but I think there's too much singing going on. I fell sleep 3 times (yeah... I couldn't believe it). I would give it 3 and 1/2 stars and honestly, I think "Ray" is a little better, but that's my opinion only.

I love the old Disney movies - late 60s, 1970s era. They bring back fond memories. My Dad used to take me to see them all when I was a kid.

I watched Monster In Law last night. Really cute movie and funny. I laughed out loud quite a few times. Jane Fonda's character was totally nuts!

Two For The Money is a good film with Al Pacino and Matthew McConaughey.

'Troy' is certainly one of the better movies made recently. It has several really good attributes, but one that stands out is the fact that you actually like the antagonist as well as the protagonist. The casting was excellent and the cinematography was outstanding. It was certainly not a 'Gladiator' knock-off.
On the lighter side of life, 'The 40 year old virgin' was hilarious. Even though I liked the wedding crashers, this made me laugh a whole lot more.
