I agree with solargame. The first I had seen the commercial for it it sounded really gay. Sounded like power rangers or thunder birds.
"The only thing or person Cruz fought back against was a guy that was worse off than he was. What a puppy! " LOL!!!!
Saw Jarhead today. Great movie. The action may have been a little slow but the acting was excellent. It touched on sensitive issues and surprisingly highlighted some not so good things about the marines and the friendly fire blunders of the airforce. the end was a tad bit of an anticlimax but nonetheless I was pleasantly surprised by the rest of the plot. I anticipated a drawn out, self aggrandizing, fantastic encounter but it turned out quite well.
i saw havoc the other day, and i flipped my wig to see anne hathaway topless. not once, not twice, but three times.
we don't get Stealth 'til next month however we have Madagascar - excellent; and Fantastic 4, very good, saved by the luscious Jessica Alba
I watched "House of Wax"--a 2005 version--was pretty good, it had a different angle than the old ones with Vincent Price and others. It's worth a watch.
You often see a movie trailer and you get a sinking feeling about the movie but you figure that with the likes of Kelly Preston, Kurt Russell and Linda Carter, how bad can it possibly be. Well, pretty darn bad. The best part of 'Sky High' was right after the last scene. You know, where they roll the credits. It was just awful. The plot had a remote semblance to The Incredibles, with 'remote' being the operative word. Let's just say if someone offers to pay for you to see it, ask them to buy you rope instead, then go hang yourself. It's a whole lot less agonizing. Gets 1 out of 10 from me. Should have listened to Solargame & Stitch 221, I know!.
I watched 3 movies this weekend. [bold]Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Dodgeball[/bold] and [bold]Mind Hunters[/bold]. [bold]Mr. & Mrs. Smith[/bold] was pretty good, but not great. It was fun, lots of action and some humor. Brad and Angelina were good together. They make a good team. [bold]Dodgeball[/bold] was so-so. Kinda funny. [bold]Mind Hunters[/bold] ... I was disappointed. I thought it would be better. It was corny, the acting wasn't very good at all. Poorly scripted. Val Kilmer had such a small part which was disappointing. Christian Slater's part was very small too. I don't recommend it. My husband didn't care for it either.
I watched "Aeonflux" at the theater on the weekend -- I don't know, but I think I enjoyed watching Charlize Theron more than the whole movie. Damn, she's hot in that suit, and especially when she's naked. I would give it a 2 1/2 stars out of 5.
I watched "Walk the Line" on the big screen last night and thought it was excellent. Of course I've been a big Johnny Cash fan since I first heard him back in '56 and a big Joaquin Phoenix fan for several years now. I just got "Fantastic 4", but I haven't watched it yet. Their uniforms make them look like they are on the channel 4 news team or at least that was my first impression. Dave
Dave--I am a fan Joaquin Phoenix also. He has played a wide range of characters and done each well--in "Clay Pigeons", "Gladiator", "8mm" and others. I am watching "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" tonight, and an oldie I like--"When Worlds Collide". Just think about two planets colliding! Bet that'd be a big jolt on a Saturday afternoon...
I think that "When Worlds Colide" would be a good movie for a remake. Just imagine how it would be with modern special effects. I saw it when I was 11 or 12 when it came out and I was pretty impressed. It's still a good movie. I also liked the original War of the Worlds, but I guess it looks sort of hokey compared to the new one. Dave
