Hi JMARK, Thanks for the recommendations. The Downfall waa done last year and won all sorts of awards in Germany. It was written by his secretary and she was a young character in the film. I saw Triumph of the Will. Amazing. They had marketing focus groups to tell them how far they could go in 1940. I agree that everyone should read and "watch" history to be properly educated but not be a slave to dates and stuff like that. I found The Teaching Company, and now I have many college level courses taught by the best teachers in the land. It makes my 30 minute commute seem like 5 minutes. Look them up on the web. www.teach12.com
Thanks for the info. Bliberal, Traudl Jung was still alive and did the memoirs in person. She died a couple of years later. And shesmoked about 4 packs a day and lived to her late mid 80's. Another really good one is "The Wondeful, Tragic, Happy and Sad" Life of Leni Riefenstahl" or SOMETHING like that...it was a documentary and VERY good. She is a very bright woman, and after you see the flick--you realize that she still thought the Nazi days were not so bad. You also see that she really ADMIRED Hitler, and the whole Nazi thing was just poorly run. Like every German I have ever met they say NOTHING about WW2...or say it was reported as worse than it was, which is wrong--the measure of evil is incalculable. Hitler was very fond of her and they spent a lot of time together. She took a lot of the pictures you see today up at the Berghoff in Bavaria.
Has anyboby seen the new movie "Ringer" with Johnny Knoxville? He is one of my favorites, and he can be hilarious. Remember when he got his butt stapled on "Jackass"? The beautiful people make it into Hollywood movies by having "affairs" with old, fat, extraordinarily ugly producers--he was smart--make you own hilarious stuff and they'll invite you in. Does anyone enjoy the TV show "Scare Tactics"? It's a hoot and it's often cruel to the victim.
Saw a few movies in the last couple a weeks, Shooting Dogs: very good but disturbing movie http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0420901/ Hak seh wui (Election) Great Asian movie about gangs http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0434008/ Hustle And Flow: Good movie about a pimp turned wannabe rapper http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0410097/ Also saw In The Blue , The Transporter 2 which was a bit dull and The Myth as mentioned by alkohol which was pretty good
I finally watched "KING KONG" at the big screen on this past Saturday. It's good -- well, it's sort of slow pace at the very first 50 minutes, and the rest is awesome. Good actions, I dig it especially when King Kong vs T-Rex.
Yeah I saw King Kong as well, bad a$$ movie. Really long tho, 3 hours and 7 minutes. It's action packed, but the ending is sappy. You don't even have to watch the movie to know how it ends. Oh and Call of Duty 2 is an amazing WW2 game.
Anyone seen the new Jim Carey Movie....Fun with Dick and Jane, was wondering if its worth going seeing
I just saw Fantastic 4. It was an EXCELLENT movie. I dont no y some of u think its a bad or o.k movie.
just got back from King Kong. it was awesome. like most people said, the first 45 minutes were wicked slow but then it sped up alot. my favorite part was when kong destroyed those 3 dinosaurs. he rips the dinosaurs tongue out and breaks and crushes his jaw. priceless.
I just watched High Tenison...that movie had a wicked ending. Anyone else seen this movie?...I must of missed something because it through me off at the end.
Just saw King Kong and i have to say i did not like it much at all it was far too long and the love story between the ape and the woman was just silly it's as if she wanted to run away with the thing and have a family after only being scared of it for like 30 secs then its all "fancy a date big man", the scene with the heard of dinosaurs was pretty cool apart from the fact that almost all of them never got stepped on which i find highly unlikely, I liked the scene with Kong and the T-Rex's that was cool and when he was running through New York smashing everything that was also pretty cool.
What probably bugged me after king kong was just the fact that shes was pretty unshaken after everything. Attacked by orcs, birds, trex, bugs, and yet shes not crying or anything. thats one tough lady !
Temporada de Patos/Duck Season A Sunday afternoon in a middleclass apartment in Mexico: two boys, the neighbour girl and the pizzaman. And that's it. Nothing happens. No explosions/CGI/blood/sex/animations, no "this film was made as a vehicle for the star of the moment" tosh. It's wonderful. "They don't make films like they used to". Oh but they do, they just do it a loong way from the USA.
I watched [bold]King Kong[/bold] as well last night... Slept for the first hour, then it was... ...Unbelievable! The fight with the T-Rex... Brilliant, just a monkey beating the cr@p out of a lizzard 'Gorilla style'!! I knew it was good, but it outclassed me expectations! Jackson keeps delivering... Is he the new Spielberg?
