3 extremes is just the ticket if you want to see something unusual and twisted but beautifully directed by the top 3 horror directors on one disc. Cant vouch for true horror (my gf can with the abortion scene)-told ya its crazy-but give it a try. Also grizzly man I enjoyed as well. Check out Kong this month on the 28. Won Oscar for sound, cant wait til I crank up the ol home setup.
@cyprusrom Yes, I've seen Operation Scorpio when it first came out in 92. I even have the DVD now. Great modern ma flick with tons of spectacular fightings, all of the actions are awesome indeed. It looks like we have the same taste when it comes to movies, regardless if it's Hollywood, Hong Kong or Korean. If only you haven't seen Pedicab Driver, then I highly recommend it. It is arguably one of the best movie ever made and directed by Sammo Hung. Best fighting on screen ever, in my opinion. The actions and fighting are as great as Operation Scorpio. In addition, if you're a fan of Donnie Yen, then I highly recommend "Tiger Cage II". This is one of his earlier modern HK flick and is choreographed by HK action director master Yuen Woo Ping, the man behind The Matrix Trilogy, Kill Bill I & II, Unleashed, Fearless and Iron Monkey.
@Alkohol I did not watch "Tiger Cage II" yet(I'm having a hard time finding it!), or "Pedicab Driver". Are on my list:~)! As for Donnie Yen or Sammo Hung, they are some of my favorites. Donnie does some great leg work! I wonly have "In the Line of Duty 4", "Iron Monkey" and " Sha Po Lang" with him. As for Sammo, he is also a great director! I just finished "Fighter in The Wind". Some awesome, awesome scenes.Great choregraphy. Yes, it appears that we do have same tastes in movies:~)! I also enjoy the old style, like "The Prodigal Son" with Yuen Biao and Sammo Hung, and directed by Sammo. A great movie for the ones that enjoy the genre! Thanks for your recommendations! Let me know when you come across some other good stuff! Cheers! An older one that I liked is "Heroes of the East", made by the Shaw Bros.
I watched Walk The Line and loved it. But I'm also a HUGE Johnny Cash fan and I'm sure my judgement is slightly biased.
I watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind Weird... Jim Carey was brilliant in it tough... It's a side of his career that i thought was inexistent... I thought he could only do clown work...(the hardest they say)
Harry Potter 4 came out and its dark. My favorite of the series. Although not to happy with the transfer. While dolby digital is good and all I still would have liked to have had a dts-es track or maybe dolby digital ex. Going out to buy Revenge of the Sith again today. Again the darkest of the stories and cant stand knowing I have no idea where I put my last one.
Watched "JARHEAD", awesome movie. Jamie Foxx did a great job. Here's what I liked; "I told you to keep your fuc.ken head down, if you listen to me, you would still be fuc.ken alive right now. Stupid f.uck".
I don't know what ETS is, but if you're talking about DTS you have to have a decoder for it which most DVD players don't have. Generally, you need a home theater setup and you connect the digital out connector from your DVD player to it. This will either be a fiber optic cable or a coax cable. Dave
I have to agree with Hoppy1980, Walk the Line is a great movie. I also enjoyed Goblet of Fire and Yours, Mine & Ours. I watched half of Jarhead last night after American Idol and fell asleep. but the first 20 minuets were good.
agreed jarhead, was awsome as was harry pothead 4 but please for the love of darren dont waste ur freaken money on domino! it was THE WORST movie ive ever seen, right up there with the blair witch project 2
really it seemed so incomprhenacbly lame? well i guess that was jsut to me "ive be traing since i was twelve i can fight with anything, im not afraid to die IM NOT AFRIAD TO DIE!"
@forkndave Do i relly need to have dts? Domino doesn't seems like a good movie to me. ultro violot sucks.
No, you don't have to have DTS. Most DVDs don't have it anyway. DTS stands for Digital Theater Sound or something like that. I very seldom ever put it on a back up unless I'm using a DL disc because it's usually something like 800MB or more. AC3 5.1 is only about half as big a file. I have a home theater system, and although the DTS is slightly better sounding, there's not really that much difference that I can hear. It's not worth crunching the movie down more just to get it on there. Dave
