I think you may be getting a whole new respect from now on drchips! Mr. drchips? Sir drchips. drchips Almighty?
    Big Brother drchips? Hee hee.

I only visit the teletubbies site when I'm so inebriated I don't know any better. I keep deleting it from my favorites but it mysteriously reappears whenever I have a hangover!

Hey Prisoner, I'm in Phoenix Arizona and it's a cold one today at 68 F! I've got on a long-sleeve shirt to keep warm. I've lived in AZ my entire 31 years and have a severe aversion to anything below 50F.

I remember years back going pheasant hunting with my uncle back in Kansas during the late winter where it was about 20F and I thought I was going to die. I had on so many layers of long johns, sweaters and coats I looked like Ralphie's little brother from the movie "A Christmas Story".

Being a construction electrician I've worked out in 115F with full tool belts and no shade all day and I'd take it over the cold no question.

    Cheers fellas

Have you been smokin'? The grammar & spelling displayed I have to agree is abysmal. The youth of today refuse to acknowledge that us older types need to see proper words in the correct order so that we are able to decipher questions.

Where's my nurse? I've had an accident.

Wow!! They call him Mr. drchips. If I should ever disagree with you, remember you win. There I made sure to say it. I know what you mean about the grammar I mostly lurked? until today. I have noticed that most of the help I have gotten from AD has come from people who I can easily read what they are writing. Thanks for all the info without it my new dvd burner would just be good looking.

Dr chips. I am determined to find out how you do that. The only problem is that my brother (he's been in computers all his life) now lives approx 12000 miles away from me!! GODDAMMIT!! I fancy a keyboard sniffer myself, why bother trying to crack encryption etc. I will now wrap my pc & computer in tin foil to prevent anybody penetrating my system. What firewall etc do you consider the best for protection? Personally, I think that no matter what you try, there will always be someone out there one step ahead!

    Hiya pulsar,
you also need a tin-foil hat covering at least the top half of your head, as the satellites can read your brain-waves otherwise, and ALL YOUR SECRETS are in your brain SOMEWHERE... ;-o
there is no "best" as such; it IS advisable to have multiple layers of security using differing technologies, my home systems for example:
internet -> Smoothwall Appliance -> Stateful Inspection appliance -> Managed Secure Switch -> network.
PC's on the network run two-way application level-firewalls, in a sandbox environment with the usual AV, Adaware/AdWatch, AdsGone, Popup Killer, HiJackThis, RealTime Cookie Cutter etc. etc...
All logs are held & examined regularly.
    very true.
In general I would say I cannot get my systems as secure as I would like WITHOUT affecting useability to some extent, so they are made sufficiently difficult to discourage most attempts, and any determined attempt shows in the logs and is flagged by the reviewing software which has control over the managed switch - basically, if it is not happy it can pull the plug on the outgoing connection.

In general, if someone is just scanning around looking for a system or network to crack, they will go for the easy targets - lots of unprotected, wide-open Windows boxen out there.

    Have Fun...

You are indeed an Oracle. I bet we could talk for hours in a bar somewhere. I do like to talk to people who are not only knowledgeable about several subjects & passion is a good driving force too!! Personally I am an ex-mechanical engineer who has had the pleasure of flying helicopters, cruising at over 160mph on the autobahns for mile after mile in Germany & riding over the French Alps on numerous visits to the south of France on a GSXR-750. 12 hours from the south coast up to Calais, 18 hours non-stop (inc Tunnel time!) to home & dear old Blighty!!

My thought process is so weak I find I only need SaranWrap on my head. And maybe a teletubbies beanie for good measure.

I'm not worried about shielding brainwaves. I just hope if anybody is receiving them they'll let me know what all that junk in there is supposed to mean.

Nephilim, 114F is crazy!! I would completely melt. Today`s high in Toronto was -13C or 8.6F. I thought it was warm, so many days lately at -22C or -7.6F.

Preator, should go back to the old system before 1960`s, an actual wall of fire. would stop most people, but need to some how stop the computer from melting.

drchips, you have a new cult following. I was going to ask you to try and hit me. I wonder what info the University gives out. I do all my net connections from inside either a hospital or University of Toronto. I know the network is basically wide open, but I wonder how wide? Maybe you could PM me some time.

but as being a really parnoid person, I think on a help forum it is good that people know you are real. Otherwise we could just be machines testing the Turing test to fool all of you. And as for the trolls, they must just be low grade machines, without the new Microsoft Grammer pack. I hate those constant upgrades.
