I have an Adaptes SCSI card driving a SCSI DVD-ROM. It is using Adaptecs ASPI layer. I also have a Plextor DVD burner. I see some DVD test programs out there that require the 4.6 ASPI layer. Can I go ahead and load these also without having any problems with the Adaptec ASPI drivers.?
There is a procedure to it and you can't just load one set of ASPI drivers over another. You'll have to learn about things like dumpaspi, killaspi and a couple of others. http://aspi.radified.com/ The link will give you a good read on ASPI and some things you'll need to know. http://cgi.tripod.com/321ripforum/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?board=321gen;action=display;num=1090752183 There is one of the latest ASPI installer packages. You may want to check it out.
You may want to check out this link here at AD as well. http://www.afterdawn.com/articles/archive/aspisetup.cfm
Did find out that Nero's ASPI is being used. I wonder if the ForceASPI drivers, 4.6, would work better??? I'm not having any problems except for some DVD testing programe need 4.6 to work.
I wouldn't worry too much if I were you, unless there is some real need for the test app. But if you're like me the annoyance would be aggravating. Read up and learn the controls and follow the directions. The Force ASPI at the link I gave you is one of the later versions. http://cgi.tripod.com/321ripforum/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?board=321gen;action=display;num=1090752183 There is a test tool in the folder as well.
