Good morning Mort and kivory666; wow, excellent information! Thank you both so much! I've read exactly the same as you mentioned; that Roxio doesn't really get along too well with co-existing programs. That bundled package at Newegg includes Roxio, so I guess I'll just order the oem version of the NEC 3520. By the way, does anyone have the silver bezel one? Just curious if the silver color somewhat blends with the traditional Dell gray front end, or that small round Dell logo button on the front. Not really very important to me though; just curious if the color silver would stand out like a sore thumb...(just checked; Newegg is out of stock on silver..) I'm not familiar with that ata/ide cable yet, so I guess I won't know exactly what Dell has installed here until I open up the tower. I haven't done that yet as I am hoping to do the entire burner install all at once, due to some mobility difficulties I have here. Believe me, the project will take me all day, LOL!! But, I'll learn, and take my time. I can't thank all of you enough! I am so delighted that I signed up here on the forum. I'm fortunate to have found it while doing a google search for burner reviews. Whoever owns the forum and/or moderators...thanks so much for the forum! It is a wealth of information and I have already learned a lot from you nice people. I hope to hear from Dell maybe this week; I'll let you know what they have to say about the Philips. Even if they don't honor any credit, that dreaded Philips is definitely coming out anyways, and the NEC is certainly going in. I'll simply take the loss if I have to. Thanks again; I'll keep you posted... Tommy
Tommy, Just make sure you've got a small phillips screwdriver as you will have to remove the tabs on the side of the Phillips drive and put them on the new drive in order to mount it back in the slide tray.
O.K. arniebear; thank you.... Dell has put my owner's manual within the computer instead of a printed manual. This is very handy; can't loose it this way, lol! There is also a section on removing and installing cd and/or dvd drives; nice diagrams too which I could always print out and have at my disposal during the install. Man, with the amount I've been reading about the install I'm feeling much more confident here. I hope to hear from Dell this week about the Philips; I'm really curious what they'll have to say. I'll let all of you know as soon as I recieve their reply. Tommy
