audio cd shows 'cda' not 'wav'...

Hi and thanks in advance to anyone who can help...

When I try to play music off an audio cd in either my dvd-rom or dvd-rw, Winamp doesn't work. I can only play them through WMP (which I don't care for). When I open the cd, it lists the tracks with a 'cda' file type instead of a 'wav' extension. I tried to use ALtoMP3 to rip them and Alto doesn't recognize the files either.

Now, my computer is new but I've had enough boxes in the past and have never come across this before until now.

Again, any help would be great,

    Sup foof132,

You can't play a .cda file because a .cda is not an audio sound format! WMP is smart enough to know that a file with .cda at the end is a pointer to audio CD information info, not digitally formatted data.

To get a CD to play using Win Amp you have to go to: File -> Play Folder -> Choose the optical drive that the CD is in (as your "folder") and Walla, Win Amp is now playing you CD.

    I hope this helps you,
    Ced
