Did you tick the box for AC3 5.1-ch english when you opened that file in dvd shrink?

That's the only one I tick when I do my backups, being here in the USA.

What are you playing the DVD on anyway, your PC or Home system?

How about we try it on an actual DVD Player or your PC and see what it sounds like. Let us know.

    "wat else could be wrong"

Poor media can cause sound issues.

What brand name/speed rate/and format of media and how fast are you burning it? Example: sony -4x/ burned them at 4x.

We need to know if your pc can play that backup and it looks and sounds ok.And use the drive that burned it.
Those pesky stand alone players are another story.

I leave all my backups on ac3 5.1 english only. It gives you a little less compression than with all the other sound streams ticked.

Which speed of sony dash do you use? 1x-4x/4x/1x-8x

Use dvd decrypter and look for it's manufacturing code: example sony04D1
