Hi, Im a Newbie here, but i have browsed and used advice on many occasions. I have recently downloaded two series of Documentaries...one Xvid, and one DivX 4. Im planning on burning them to VCD. I had problems with the Xvid's but i managed to fix them thanks to another post reply. My problem with the Divx four is, firstly i tried to 'save as AVI' using VirtualDub with the options - Video :full proccessing mode and Audio - direct stream copy, But i got no sound. So then i tired to separate the video and sound with : open file - file - save wav. Then for video, file, save as AVI. But the sound was jumpy and choppy, but still in synch. Am i doing something wrong? Any easy fixes available? Thanks for any help in advance.. Vince moved from audio forum - tigre
I did a search for "virtualdub audio" (Search for ... "All of these words") to decide where to move this thread. Some of the results should be helpful.
Its AC3, if your gonna tell me about the recent post you can hold back, ive already tried it, and as a newbie, it was all greek. think its written for those in the know.
If the audio is ac3 you need VirtualDUBMOD! One thing I dont understand you doing mate is you set video to full processing mode and audio to direct stream copy! can i ask why?
Sure, I did a search and I read it on a thread, and it was you who suggested it. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/8587 But I didn't get it to work sadly. On a brighter note, I finally converted the files from Divx4 to mpeg. It was hard going, I separated the sound with the aid of this link : http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/3843 I didn't think it was working as it could be a little clearer for the newbie's. IE: I followed the instructions and got an error instead of a wav file. So I took note of the error and clicked on ok closing the error box! Normal right? Wrong! I found by accident that if I don't close the error box the wav file is created. So I persevered and got the sound file. Incidentally, the file I was converting was only 380,000kb, the sound file alone I extracted was over 500,000!!! Very odd. But when I put them back together with TMPGnc..the file was somewhere in-between. Well, the conversion quality is poor after all that, and its been a long hard task. But I did it. Thanks to anyone who offered advice.... Vince
I wouldnt have seperated the sound I would have just decompressed the audio in the file! better results!!
Im sure i tried that Dela, but i got an error message. I thought i had it fixed. But when i went to burn as VCD nero said it needs to be converted!!! Sigh.....after all that!! Well, im knackered now, as i deleted the origional Divx4 files. All i have now is Mpegs that still need converted...lol.
