I'm no expert but I have a question for you.

What is the file type it is producing?

I just got the HF10 and it makes MTS files and M2TS.

I use the software that came with the camera called ImageMixer SE Player. I'm using about the same laptop that you are with only 2GB of RAM and I am playing them fine. And from an external USB harddrive.

I have a question too. I want to figure out how to play the files continusly like you can on the camera.

    Hope this info helps some.
