average size of an mpeg?

    I was just wondering how big most peoples mpegs turn out when transfering from a, lets say 800mb AVI. for me its over 1 gig. Is that to high? I guess thats why when backing up DVDs it ends being on 2 VCD's...

    Hi Nip, yeah thats about right for me too. I have got some films on one cd in vcd format, but these are relatively short films ie less than 90mins. If your burning to dvd then a file that size will be fine, if not your gonna have to split it for vcd or svcd.
    It is normal though. Usually they are Divx or Xvid which compress highly but keep near DVD quality, thats why when you convert back to mpeg they are so big.
