avg not working after a wndows update

    after a windows update my avg is no longer working
    it says"avgcc.exe-illegal system dll relocation."
    i tried microsoft support but cant find anything on avg
    while avg is off im using avast(is this a good substitute?)
    any input would be gratefully recieved

    The newest update, for animated cursors is what's causing the problem.

    You'll need to uninstall the update temporarily until MS patches the patch.

    In your Windows directory, look for the folder $NtUninstallKB925902$. Inside it, you'll find another folder spuninst. Open it, and run the uninstaller called spuninst.exe. If you cannot see these folders, first go to Tools, Folder Options. Click on the View tab, and check "Show Hidden files and folders".

    thanks Morph416 i found update and uninstalled it. avg is up and running again thanks again for your help

    No problem.


    For those of you that have been having problems, sometimes uninstalling this patch temporarily is the answer. For Realtek users, there is a patch already out that fixes the conflict for Realtek sound.

    Not sure when AVG, or other software conflicts will release patches. When they do, download those patches first before applying the new windows patch.
