AVI Bad frames

    Hey all

    This has probably been posted 98 million times, well now it is 98 million and 1 times.

    hehehe

    Serously though, i cant figure our how to repair or delete bad frames from a divx movie. I have tried various ways with no success. Is there software out there that will do it for me or is it hopeless?

    I tried before using VirtualDUB but all i got was audio out of sync but still try it becaus ei was using an xvid file not a divx!

    There is a piece of software called divxfix, do a search and d/l it. Don't think it is on aD site, though.

    Thanks for the replys but this is where i am at

    I d/l divxfix and run it however it only notifies me on the corrupt frames.

    How do i actually get rid of them? What software do i use to do it?

    In VirtualDUB, look at the last two buttons on the line of buttons at the end, basically they mean start of selection and end of selection. select all the bad frames and click edit, delete frames. The only problem is that VirtualDUB may cause the audio to go out of sync!

    Try using Nandub it copes better with the audio coded in the xvid file. I had the same problem with an avi I dl'd, used Nandub and bingo problem solved!

    Don't use DivFix, use AVIFixed instead. DivFix is ok for finding errors but it doesn't solve them. Use AVIFixed, that will sort out the bad frames. Once you have used it it should be ok to encode, although it sometimes needs rekeying. The best way to do this is to load the 'fixed' movie into virtualdub. It will run a fix on frames but not rekeying. Don't rekey with Vdub. Instead, once you've opened it in Vdub do the following:
    1. Go Audio - select 'Full Processing'.
    2. Go Audio - select 'Conversion' - select '44100Hz'.
    3. Go Audio - select 'Compression' - select 'No Compression'
    4. Go Video - select 'Compression' - select 'Divx 5.02'
    5. Go File - select 'Save as Avi' and save your file.
    Then you have a movie that will safely encode using TMPGenc. However, sometimes you will get an AVI file so badly corrupted there'll be nothing you can do about it, you'll just have to find another source or be content with watching it on your PC.
    It took me weeks to sort this and had to figure it out by myself cos no one on here had a clue.
