    I have an .AVI file that will play on all my windows players but can't find any software that will allow me to decode it to ".mpg". I know it's the Video that's the problem as TMPEng will allow me to decode the audio, but not the video.
    GSpot tells me the Codec 4CC is xvid and the name is XviD. The render will work in GSpot too.
    The message is:
    (S) --> AVI Splitter --> ffdshow MPEG-4 Video Decoder --> Unspecified VFW codec --> (R)
    I've even tried the trial version of Ulead DVD movie factory 2 and this allows the little preview window to show the movie but still wont accept the file???
    I'm new to this game and sure I must be doing something wrong.
    Can anyone help please??

    Still wouldn't recognise the codec under CCE and locks up under Easy Video Converter after about 40%, but had success with Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2.
    Thanks for your help.
