I have this AVI File that's crashing my windows explorer. Every time I go to the directory that has the file in it, my explorer restarts. I have to do something with the file for this to happen. The file plays okay in windows wants I get it started.

Can any one shed some light on what may be causing this.

I am assuming you're running XP

Too many codec packages installed so they were conflicting with each other... unistall FF-Show codec package and use to DivX package and it may work. Google DivX521XP2K.exe and install.

If the DivX521XP2K.exe was unsuccessful then we'll try the regedit:
However if you still have problem then “Windows XP Explorer has a feature:

    Simply do the following steps:
    1) Open a command window (Start->Run, type in 'cmd' hit enter)
    2) To remove image preview, type and hit enter
    regsvr32 /u shimgvw.dll
    3) To readd image preview, type and hit enter
    regsvr32 shimgvw.dll
    4) To remove media preview, type and hit enter
    regsvr32 /u shmedia.dll
    5) To readd media preview, type and hit enter
    regsvr32 shmedia.dll

Thanks for your reply. Yes I'm running XP. I'll give it a try.
