    Hi,

I have downloaded an episode of Lost (.avi file) and i am using VirtualDub to add permanent subtitles to it. But to do so, I have to recompress the video of the .avi file. I am currently using the Xvid codec and VirtualDub to recompress it.

In virtualdub, when i select the compression method, i choose "Xvid MPEG-4 Codec".

But the problem is: the original .avi file has 700Mb, and my recompressed .avi file with subtitles incrusted has 350Mb...

What is the problem ?? What I have to do if I want exactly the same size as the original video? I did not changed any settings in the xvid codec configuration.

    help please! thx

    Load AVI.
    Click File > File Information.
In the top video pane, look at 'Data Rate'.

Set the compression at least the same - but 20% more might be better.
