AVI to DVD -- Audio Out Of Sync

I have converted many files with to create DVD files from Divx/Xvid AVI's. I have no problem with full length movies but...

I have television shows that I downloaded legally and this is the Gspot info for one of the episodes:

Video -- Codec Xvid, (codecs are installed)
Audio -- 8000Hz 130 kb/s total (2chnls) LAME 3.92 [bold]VBR!![/bold]

These are 45 minute episodes, and I have encoded AVI's that are two hours long that have NO PROBLEMS...
The audio info for one of the movies is similar...
48000Hz 112kb/s total (2 chnls) LAME 3.9 [bold]VBR[/bold]

The audio, after countless attempts with the television show is out of sync about 20 minutes into the show and gets progressively worse. The audio with the movie is [bold]fine[/bold], all the way through. I have been told that my audio is having problems because of VBR, but the movie is long, and has vbr, but has no problems.
Would the 8000Hz in the show be causing the problem, because that seems to be the only difference?

So far I have used Ulead DVD Movie Factory, WinAVI, and Nero Vision, and every time its transcoded into DVD format, the audio ends up out of sync. Every other media file I have tried to use has been succesful though. Everything but this show.

 

Is it in sync the first 20 minutes?
If so;
Then there's probably been a frame drop / glitch in the video somewhere causing the problem..also Lame audio? isn't that a DBPowerAmp mp3 "conversion"....try running each of those TV shows thru VirtualDub...convert the audio to PCM format CBR and check for Video errors ...re-dub the video, full processing mod, don't drop frames when behind..and sync the audio back up to the video.

 

1. It seems that I can convert a single episode with WinAVI to the DvD format, and the audio will be in sync!!!
The only problem is that it will make a whole dvd with only ONE episode on it. Is the only way to put the multiple episodes onto a disc by using WinAVI. Can I somehow use WinAVI to merge the clips into a single disc, but each with a different title, or chapter????

2. The other thing is that only 2 episodes will fit into a dvd full quality, but I can fit 5 episodes by reducing the quality in Nero Vision. So basically my second question is... After converting about 4-5 episodes into DVD files, can I "shrink" those files down to fit onto a dvd... (possibly convert to an ISO, mount, and use DVD Shrink?????)

 

well, whenever you compress Video you're going to lose quality, depending on the quality of the encoder/ compressor...so I have to ask..DVD-+R are pretty cheep...so if you've downloaded or Rented a Video (obtained for next to nothing) and are now going to "save" it ..Why loose quality + sleep trying to put xxxx shows on one disk? Two or Three Max is plenty. Or is it the challange/race to see just how many you can get on the same disc and still see the image?

 

Yea, but it still looks just as good with 5 episodes set at lower quality, than it does having 2 episodes at standard quality. So why wast DVD's if I dont need to?

Are you playing those 5 eps on the same disk..and watching on a Plasma Screen? You might see a difference in quality then. But that's not your question.

If you have those 6 eps converted to .vob DVD Video_TS files...before Importing them to Nero ..you could easy Shrink or use REBUILDER to compress them down, save them to new folder/location on HDD...then import those to your Nero Vision...Nero Vison also allows you to import .avi directly(you knew that right?) or you can use RECODE to shrink the files...but we've digressed..Is the audio still out of sync? I had the last 10 eps of BattleStar Galactica that were out of sync 20 minutes into them...VirtualDub fixed every one of them..it's a wonderful tool. After Dubbing you just import these new "fixed" .avi right into Nero Vision 4 create your Menu and Burn.

 

Thanks for the reply and suggestions. It seems that WinAVI is the only program that properly encodes these files to DVD without sync problems (strange isnt it!?) Nero Vision causes sync problems...

Hey everyone, i just joined up as i have been having problems with Nero Vision 4 with audio and video sync'ing.

Found that when trying to convert a divx avi file to dvd, the video would lag about 5sec's behind the audio. To fix, i copied the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\DSFilter files from Nero 6 to the same folder when nero 7 is installed. Thus overwriting the nero 7 codec's with nero 6 codec's.
I then found the avi to be in sync. This is the same for when playing the avi in Showtime.
This may not help everyone but i thought i would share.

Simillar problem here, just googled this and that's how I got here.

Hey, i also found that using Nero 7 version 7.2.0.3b worked fine. It was when i upgraded to version 7.2.3.2b that i found had the problem.
