Alright... can someone post a link or explain each step to burn a simple .avi movie file onto a dvd-r that will play on a standalone player.

    Thanks!

    One weird thing--

When I use Nero Vision and load an .avi movie, the file size is always 4.37/4.38gb and the bar at the bottom is maxed out. It will allow it to burn but will error in the middle. When i right click and look at the properties of the .avi on my dekstop, it is only like 700mb... what's up with this??

    Hi there,

You are converting a compressed video file to MPEG2 DVD files, so it's absolutly normal to see a 700 .avi (Good Quality) give you an output of 4.5gb or even more if you would burn it to a Dual Layer media.

I also heard someone having a 2.5gb uncompressed raw video file, and ended up as a 200mb .VOB file.

So the size of the original file doesn't really/always matter.
It's the bitrate/quality that can be extracted to generate the MPEG2 .VOB files that counts.

    My 2 cents...
