First let me say hi. I've been hanging around the forums for a while, but recently registered to try and get some help on backing up xbox. I guess I'll start by saying I don't have a modded xbox and hope that I don't need to, but after a debacle with GTA:SA and it's disc read error on my ps2, I want to backup Halo 2. Is it possible to burn this using my pc and something like dvd decrypter? Do I need a different ripping program? Can someone give me a step by step. I've done searches and only found instructions for ripping it to the xbox. I just want a copy of the game incase, I hope I'll never need it, but ya never know. Thanks, Mike.
You can't rip XBOX games directly from the pc. You need to FTP to your XBOX and drag all the files over, make an iso, and then burn using DVD Decrypter or Nero. Here's a better, less summed up tutorial here: http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/iso-backup-guide.php
