I want to backup my battle for middle earth game as my little brother has a knack for scratching games :)
Using aray scanner i found it has safedisk 2/3 protection, plus it is also 4 disks. I dont even know if this is a dvd or cd so i hope i posted in the right place. I have a trial of alcohol 120 and a full nero ultra edition.

any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

It's probably CD game, because I never heard for game on 4 DVDs :). As for the protection I doubt you can do anything without cracking.

Yup its a the cd version. You need to use Alcohol to beat this protection as nero won't do a damn thing for beating the protection.

Set your read and write speed to 4x and your datatype to Safedisc 2/3

Only your play disc will have the protection and the other 3 will will not so I guess you can use nero to copy the unprotected cd's

You will aslo get alot of disc read errors and that's pefrectly normal with safedisc protection's, it will also take awhile so be patiant.

Any more question feel free to ask.

You can also make a mini image to play off the virtual drives so you can play without the disc. Follow the link here on how to make a mini image

Are there any dedicated servers anywhere to download? I'd really like to host some online play with some users off my own machine.

Safedisc cd protection should be on CD1.
Your Sony dvd burner can't make a true 1:1 backup.
If you backup pc games on a routine basis then consider a dvd-rom and
Safedisc killer burner such as the Plextor Premium(52/32/52x) or the Plextor PX-712. Backups of Safedisc will not launch in a burner because of ATIP. You can try a alternative route by using Daemon Tools>mount Safedisc protected cd(usually CD1) and hope the game launches.
