My Xbox has stopped reading games. Meaning I don't even get error messages when I put a game in. I can play CD's though with no issue.

I called MS and they said I may need a new I drive? and to send it in with 100 bucks.

Can this be fixed outside of MS, for less money?

    Thanks.

Sorry mis read the post, you could try getting a lense cleaner.

CD's are easier to read than DVD's your DVD Drive may be on its way out!

No, I have no mods whatsoever. It won't read discs, I didn't try to load saved games MS help desk had me delete my hard drive to try to fix the problem.

New Xbox DVD Drives usually retail at about 65GBP for the highest quality (Samsung).

If your willing to fit it yourself

    andrewb15,

You say the Samsung drive is the best quality for XBOX? That's what I have, but have been having problems with some games. They'll play for a bit then crash. One person told me the Philips drive is the better route.
    The XBOX is chipped.

    Thanks
