Bad sektor(Harddrives) program

My harddisc is hit with a bad sektor, and its prefomance is very lowrate,
I remember one of my friends found a preogram to very simply scanning and excluting bad space, Only problem I dunno what its called, and goggle is no help...
If U stumble over this threat and remember, hmm I know that, please share your knoglegde;

I think SpinRite is the industry standard when it comes to recovering bad sectors.
