    1. After the 1.2 Patch BF1942 becomes, Safedisc 2.80010 protected.
    2. lastexile: The whole point of spending all the time beforehand and burning the game is to not have to use a noCD. When you make a perfect copy you are no longer restricted to specific versions of the game and you can freely patch the game as you please unlike when you resort to noCDs.

It is common to encounter read errors when reading images of Safedisc cd protection. Bad sectors are found within 1-10,500 of the protected cd. Use your Litey to read (or dump) the image of Battlefield 1942, Road To Rome, Secret Weapons Of WW II and use either Alcohol 120% or BlindWrite Suite to backup. You "may" need the aid of ATIP tool (ignore media type) to play your backups. Another option is to install the game then use either Alcohol 120% or BlindWrite Suite and read (or dump) cd 2 (Battlefield 1942) then use Alcohol's virtual stealth drive>mount cd 2>enable ignore media type> play backup from your created virtual stealth drive. This game isn't blacklisted" as I've already tested....

Like I said in my previous post m8, you'll encounter read errors when reading the image of Battlefield 1942, Road To Rome& Secret Weapons Of WW II. Use the Safedisc 2 datatype profile to read all images and burn RAW DAO at 8x (preferably). Try the backups in your Pioneer with emulation "bad sector" enabled. If the backup fails then insert in your Litey and enable "ignore media type " emulation.

    Safedisc 2.x
Bad sectors within 1-10,500 sectors of the cd
    Safedisc 2.8-2.9
Pre-gap within 1-150 sectors of the cd
Bad sectors within 1-10,500 of the cd.

Everyone started off as a n00b :) Gotta start somewhere! In any case, my comments about Nero's CD Copy Feature:
    1. Horrible
    2. Poor choice for unproteced cds
    3. An even worse choice for protected cds (that is, anything with a more significant protection scheme than say... somethin 8 years ago).

When you get a message 'Please insert cd and click to continue...' and you are playing with a copied cd, odds are that the copy you made was not done perfectly (hence the need for a noCD).

To copy a SafeDisc2 type game, the most important consideration is the model of your burner. The most generic classification is whether or not your burner is rated as a '2-sheep' burner or not. You want a 2-sheep burner as it will make your copying task much easier and your copies will work anywhere without the aid of emulation and such. For a list of 2-Sheep burners as well as an explaination as to what exactly "sheep" are, see http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/45121 and http://www.elby.ch/en/products/clone_cd/writers/a.html

Now the drive you've got there should be a 2-sheeper and to do a SafeDisc2 backup, pay a visit to http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/23699

    as qouted by [bold]aldaco12[/bold]
i say After identifying the protection method, you can choose the proper application to backup your CD.

    We suggest:
    >> Alcohol 120% (easiest) for backup of almost all type of protected CDs (except SecuROM 4.8x and - on certain cases - Safedisc 2.8x and above)
    >> BlindRead/Write suite 4.2.5 or CloneCD (this one with the help of Twinpeaks) in order to backup CDs protected with NEW SecuROM 4.77.x or above (4.8.x in the following)
    >> Discdump/Fireburner method is also known to be very good for backups of SecuROM 2.x (also latest 2.80), so you might give it a try. The full tutorial (w/pictures) is here:
    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/29452
    >> Padus DiskJuggler is also told to be very good in order to backup CDs protected with Safedisc 2.8x and above (see Shoey's post at the end of this thread)

Download links for the software above mentioned are provided below:
    > Alcohol 120%: http://cd-rw.org/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/alcohol120.cfm
    > BlindWrite: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?threadid=61418 (for version 4.25) and http://www.blindwrite.com/download.htm (for latest version)
    > CloneCD: http://www.elby.ch/english/products/clone_cd/download.html
    > TwinPeak Tool: http://kickme.to/blackcheck
    > Padus DiscJuggler: http://www.padus.com/downloads/demo.php
    > Fireburner: http://www.fireburner.com/downloads.shtml

    > Discdump Frontend:http://come.to/ddumpfrontend

If you are on US or Japan, CloneCD will have a 'regional lock'. You can easily bypass the lock by changing Windows 'International Settings'

Please note that you can backup SecuROM 4.8x with also Alcohol 120% (working backup, need Datatype: SecuROM NEW 4.x , which allows DPM on reading phase and 'Burn RPMS' on writing phase. The resulting CD will need emulation (Alcohol running with 'RPMS Emulation' option switched ON) when playing. For this reason the backup is called working but not perfect.

For Safedisc 2.8 and above, you must know that, so far, Alcohol 120% is known to be very easy-to-use and effective, but sometimes two other methods are duggested:
    > Discdump/Fireburner
    > DiskJuggler

DiskJuggler is the only software that is able to read/write the pre-gap (provided you have a good CD-Writer) needed to have a working Safedisc 2.8+ backup. Other software (Alcohol 120%, CloneCD, BlindWrite) might create working backups but since they emulate the pre-gap during writing rather than phisically write the pre-gap , the backup CD might become useless if, for instance, you install an update patch on the game. More in general, keep in mind that the chance of making Safedisc 2.8+ working backups is strongly burner-dependent so you might either not be able to backup a SD 2.8+ CD at all. Or, maybe, you could be able to backup a the CD, but needing to use the burner rather than the reader to play it... it's a kind of 'hit and miss' game.
Knowing if your burner is at least a '2-sheep burner' also helps a lot: http://elby.ch/english/products/clone_cd/writers/a.html

To keep things simple, we will stick on three basic methods: (Alcohol 120% for everything except SecuROM 4.8x, BlindWrite 4.25 for SecuROM 4.8x and Discdump/Fireburner method for Safedisc 2.8+ should Alcohol 120% fail).

The full Discdump/Fireburner tutorial (w/pictures) is here:
    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/29452

An optional procedure to backup SecuROM 4.8 with CloneCD / Twinpeaks is located here: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/26771

At the end of this thread you'll also find the proper R/W settings for DiskJuggler, that in some cases will help to successfully backup Safedisc 2.8+ should Alcohol 120% fail. Any other specific problem should be posted and answered separately.

Your keyboard gone haywire m8? (laughs)..
It is common to encounter disc read errors when dumping a image of Safedisc cd protection. if using Alcohol 120%, insert Battlefield 1942 in your Litey and choose the Safedisc 2 datatype profile to read the image. When all finished insert a blank cd-r in your Litey and choose the Safedisc 2 datatype profile and burn RAW-DAO at 8x. When all finished play your backup in your dvd\cd-rom and not your Litey cd burner.

No one has been on this thread lately, I hope people see this. I want to backup my Warcraft 3 CD. I used Nero, but it keeps failing. I used Clony to scan the CD, and it said it had Bad Sectiopns on it. Im fairly sure the cd only has bad read sections, and no other copy protection files. I then started Clone CD and it kept failing. Does anyone know of a program that can copy it? I'm going ot try Alcohol 120.
