I agree. I can not justify the speed gains from DDR3 vs. the price that it demands at the moment.

In regards to hard drives. I find that during any type of multiplexing or read/write scenarios, you will save quite a lot of time if you use 2 hard drives and you select one for reading and the other one for writing. For example, after I have finished re-encoding and I want to multiplex to Blu-ray structure ready for burning. If my elementary streams are on my "D:\" Hard Drive, I will choose my "E:\" Hard Drive as my target. I can multiplex a raw h264 elementary stream and a Dolby/DTS track with a total of 8GB (BD-9) using tsMuxeR in about 2 minutes.

 

i am getting a bug in 01904 i installed ffdshow and MatroskaSplitter and Avisynth 258 and i am getting this error (BD Rebuilder Run-time error 76 Path Not Found) the encoder don't even start i am trying make a backup copy of wrestlemania bluray disc i bought to dvd-9 in 720p by the way the blu-ray disc is only encoded in 1080i does that have something do with it and i don't know how post log?

 

You have to guide BD Rebuilder. Source path is where you open your ripped movie and working path is where the reencoded movie will be dropped.

 

yeah i set the folders but still giving that error.

 

Then review your setup as per the first post of this thread. The vast majority of errors are setup related. Let us know how it comes out.

Tho I would add when using Rebuilder, 99.9% of the time equates as "vast majority". It's still my favorite Dvd app after all these years when you need quality because of large Dvd files, so it seems a natural fit for blu ray. I'm so glad Dobbs is still kickin' a _ _!! So now I guess it's time for me to get on board. A couple more hardware items and I'll be ready to hit the BD Highway. Lookin' forward to it as Dvd burning has become mundane to me as of late. No fuss, just click "go". Not that one click software is necessarily a bad thing, I mean who wants to scrub their jeans on a washboard when you can hit "heavy wash cycle", come back in an hour and they're done? Still, this is kinda reminiscent of the old days, kinda excited to be doing something new, more hands on -OR- Maybe I had too much "oregano" on my spaghetti and I have no idea what I'm talking about. Welcome back. Blu-Ray is about where we were with DVD backups a few years ago. Still in its early stages. The benefit of BD RB is of course is that Jd is also looking for a way to keep the menus as well as the movies, and I seem to recall that you kept menus. As always most questions can be answered by setup, setup, and setup.

You have a very good memory. I'm a menu kinda guy. All my movies have menus including making some much nicer custom menus to replace stock menus on older DVDs. I work a lot in DvdLabPro 2, recently in conjunction with EditStudio 6 (Still feeling my way around with ES 6). Pro 2 is a very powerful, professional and versatile app and can create amazing menus that rival a lot of newer ones, depending how far you wanna go plus time you're willing to invest. Best authoring app out there IMHO, for the $$. The new TMPGEnc Authoring Works 4 can result in a relatively professional looking menu without a lot of know how and time involved. I think either would compliment Rebuilder well.

I'm thinking that by creating custom menus, this would also save space when compiling blu ray because they would be smaller files. As you know, nowadays you can add anything from subtitles to special features plus using special effects,and both motion backgrounds and/or thumbnails,etc. It's really limitless in their versatility so you really wouldn't be sacrificing quality or overall looks of the Dvd just for adding a menu.

Fasfrank turned me on to authoring and to DvdLabPro. He was a whiz at that stuff. Before that I'd just used Nerovision, pretty simple and limited. They've come a long ways since those days. Speaking of Frank, is he still around?

Now, if I understand what you're saying, Dobbs is working on customizing the menu from inside Rebuilder, right? In much the same way as Rebuilder works now? It appears that you can use this beta Rebuilder with the old CCE setup. Is that correct? Any idea when this is looking to be implemented? It's gonna take me some time before I'm ready anyway. Once I decide on hardware, gotta wait for it to arrive, then install. I hoping he's taking donations and we'll be set with updates after he's done w/beta like we did w/the original Rebuilder? YEA!!

Oh well, I'll be perusing the thread where I'm sure most of my question can be answered. Any helpful info you wish to impart will be gratefully accepted however.

Right now most BD backup solutions are movie only. BD's structure is very different than standard DVD. Any understanding of standard DVD structure is of little help when working with BD. A BD movie (just the movie part) is contained in a single large file, or at least all the ones that I've seen are. Sometimes the menu's can be in completely different formats than the movie itself. In fact some BD movies can still be in MPEG2 format although most are H.264. So you will definitely have a learning curve to overcome before you start creating menus. jdobbs is working saving the original structure of a BD movie while still fitting it onto a Dual-layer disc.

 

Hopefully I can straighten out that learning curve a little, but the menus would be of Dvd structure.

That's kinda what I was loosely basing my reasoning on. Since BD backups only contain the movie file itself and since they do combine a menu of Dvd structure to navigate a movie in BD then why couldn't you create and combine your own custom menu with a BD movie file on one, say, DL disc? Even if it's something simple just to navigate chapters, taking very little space.
Of course if jdobbs can save the original structure of a BD movie while still fitting it onto a Dual-layer disc, that pretty much solves the problem either way.

I haven't tried building a menu for BD yet, but the menu's vary in file type in different movies. Some are even done in Java. They are not in standard DVD structure but you'll get a feel for it when you start working on it.

 

Am I doing something wrong here, this program wont run- gives me a message about 'The beta has expired, please update to a newer version'.....where can I get this newer version please.

Have you reviewed your setup and made certain that you have all the necessary software for RB BD tp work?

If not then go back to the first post on this thread and review the setup info.

 

I downloaded Avisynth, ImgBurn and installed. When I download the
Matroska Splitter it sits there as a white piece of paper with a blue rectangle bit in the middle and when I open it it says 'Windows cannot open this file', is there another place to download this, is it just a case of downloading it and the BD-RB auto detects it?
Sorry for sounding a bit thick, this is all a bit new to me, I have tried to follow the instructions but I think this Matroska download may be the problem.

Which Windows operating system are you using?

 

Have any of you had a problem with the encoding hanging at the very beginning?

On some movies, after it extracts the video, when it goes to encode it just hangs, and everything on the bottom just stays at 0. Some movies it works others it doesn't, even on the same movie it works at times, and doesn't work others. When it doesn't work it the x264 codec is running when i go to programs running, but its not using any CPU, and ram usage is low. Any ideas?

 

Could somebody please help me. Every time I try to install BD Rebuilder I
get this error message:
"Expired Beta, Please upgrade to a new version." I have followed all of the
instructions and installed all the programs required. Has anyone else
experienced the same problem?

If anyone knows a way around this please let me know. I am dying to try out
this program so much.
