    CURRENT VERSION 0.31.08 (February 11th, 2010)

    http://www.jdobbs.net/freeware/BD-RBV03108.zip

    - Fixed an issue introduced in v0.31.07 in which some
streams may be incorrectly included in the audio
    streams list.
    - Regressed the included version of X264.EXE to a
previous release (r1400 w/nal-hrd patch). There
were some reported issues on some Intel processors
with the EXE distributed with v0.31.07.
    - Other minor corrections and cosmetic fixes.

    bdnewbie-
I couldn't find it at all in the ffdshow options. I finally gave up and reinstalled it. When I did that I noticed the options that I must have overlooked before. If you scroll through them you'll see vc-1 and you can then change it to wmv9. After I made the change I had one disc work and one that didn't. The one that didn't work was Terminator Salvation so I have to play around with it some more. Not sure if there is a way to change vc-1 in that actual program once you install it.

Any selection made can be undone. In time it won't be necessary as things become more refined. I remember a time when DVD Rebuilder went through similar growing pains.

I have a Asus mobo (P6T WS PRO) that has 'Turbo V" - it is a utility which allows one to make overclocking profiles and turn them on or off at will. So, usually I run my Core i7 950 @ 3.06 (stock) but when using BD-RB and other apps - I can o.c. to 3.515 if I want to.
Here is a comparison between recodes using BD-RB to make a DVD9 from a BD25 disc (20 GB) - one run was with o.c.'ing and the other - stock.

Both runs had Multi-channel audio and stereo tracks (on main streams), encoding was done at high quality. BD-RB and operating system are on C: (10000rpm Velociraptor 300GB) and source files were on D: (Seagate cheetah 15000rpm sas 300GB) and output was to E: (another cheetah sas drive(same as d:)).
    ---------------------------------------------------------
    First Run (O.C.'ed 3.515GHz):

    Start: 07:05:12
    Finish: 10:21:28

Total time: 3:17:16 or 11,836 sec (you'll see why secs later)
    --------------------------------------------------------
    Second Run (Stock 3.06GHz):

    Start: 10:26:57
    Finish: 14:10:14

Total time: 3:43:17 or 13,397 sec
    --------------------------------------------------------

Difference of 26 Minutes 1 Second or 1561 seconds.

    Analysis:
    ----------
    CPU O.C. = 3.515
    CPU = 3.06

    3.515 / 3.06 = 1.148693 (Ratio of CPU speeds)
    ----------
Taking O.C.'ed time in secs (11,836) times (Ratio of CPU speeds) = 13,596 seconds - This is very close to actual time for time for run w/ no O.C.'ing (off by 3min 19secs or 199 secs).
    ----------
Or - take time not O.C.'ed - divided by time for O.C.'ed
    ==> 13,397 / 11,839 = 1.13189 Very close to Ratio of CPU speeds (1.1486).

In any case - the overclocking is a nice time saver - and is almost linearly connected to CPU speed(s).

With Windows 7 you have to give a file with BD RB permission to run. In the same folder as BD RB look for this file "REG_MSCOMCTL," right click on it and choose run as administrator. Try that and see if things work. I'm using Windows 7 professional 32 bit and it works for me. I have on good authority that it also works with the 64 bit version as well.

Post back how things turn out.

Help please, I've been using bd and it's been working 99% of the time on xp. I just updated to window 7 32 bit and now when running bd rb it says ffdshow is not configure for window 7 and it closes out. How can I fix?

    Thanks

From a couple of posts back.

With Windows 7 you have to give a file with BD RB Administrative permission to run. Follow this simple instruction.

In the same folder as BD RB look for this file "REG_MSCOMCTL," right click on it and choose run as administrator. Try that and see if things work. I'm using Windows 7 professional 32 bit and it works for me. I have on good authority that it also works with the 64 bit version as well.

It does-Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit, works 100% of the time. I haven't had a failed effort in months, surprised he still finds things to improve. :>)

    CURRENT VERSION 0.32.03 (February 23rd, 2010)
    http://www.jdobbs.net/freeware/BD-RBV03203.zip

    - Restructured the format of the SETUP dialog in prep
    for some upcoming changes.
    - Corrected another formatting issue in ExtensionData()
entries of the MPLS and CLPI files.
    - Fixed an issue in which some updated CLPI and MPLS
files may not be kept consistent between primary and
    backup directories on movie-only encodes.
    - Added a new hidden option "PASS_TWO_STATS_UPDATE".
When set to "1", the parameter "--pass 3" will be
used so that the .stats file will be updated.
    - Other minor corrections and cosmetic fixes.

Thanks for the reply. I did that and it gave me successful msg. however when I open bd re it still say not congifure and asked if i want bd-re to do it for me, if yes it gives me an error, if no then it goes to the next screen saying to I want to suppress future ffdshow, I click no and bd-re opens and I was able to back up as usual. So that takes care of that.

I have another questions. I'm backing to bdr 25gb, is there a noticable difference in quality between the default setting and high speed option for bdr 25gb? I've been using the default good quality but if there's not a noticable difference then I'll do hi speed to save time. Has anyone compared the difference?

    Thanks

Did you update to BD RB latest version?

Could you post your log so that we can see where things went wrong?

When I right clicked on Reg MSCOMCTL, got a message that "it failed to load, make sure binary is stored at the specified path, etc" But when I right clicked on the BD icon, I was able to set it to Administrator. Trying again, will keep you posted.

When you right click and choose run as administrator you should have received what you see in the image below. The idea is to register it with windows (this is from Windows 7 32bit).

    CURRENT VERSION 0.32.05 (February 26th, 2010)

    http://www.jdobbs.net/freeware/BD-RBV03205.zip

    - Disabled NAL-HRD processing in X264. Recent patch
releases have proven problematic on certain players
(mainly Panasonic). TSMUXER performs insertion of
necessary information, but the NAL-HRD patch was used
due to its greater degree of blu-ray compliancy. It
appears that this is no longer the case, or at least
that it isn't in current versions.
    - Updated the included version of X264.EXE to the
latest release (r1462 without nal-hrd patch).
    - Other minor corrections and cosmetic fixes.
