Then open FFDSHOW Video Decoder Configuration and in the right window scroll down to VC-1 and change the setting to WMV9.

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit with 6 gigs of Corsair triple memory. I wanted to see how a movie over 2 hours would play. I tried BD Rebuilder with The Dark Knight blu ray and it was completed in about 1 1/2 hours. So far the backup is playing just like the original with no issues what-so-ever.

AMD processors work with BD RB too. Sometimes the answers to issues aren't always forthcoming. Have you tried re-encoding other movies?

AMD CPUs work just fine. Plus, you can save yourself $300-$500 by buying an AMD chip, instead of the overpriced Intel chip, that does the exact same thing.

Are you certain that it's stuck or is it just taking a really long time?
You started the job at 8:36 and then posted a log that shows less than 3 hours later. How long was it stuck at [22:52:24]?

Have you been monitoring your processor temperatures?

Well, I finally got around to burning Sherlock Holmes to disk. (Yes, I know. I've been busy) Plays just fine on my Blu-ray player. Looks like the problem I was having was with VLC media player. I've noticed that I've not been using the correct version of FFDshow. I'm downloading the correct version and I'll see how my next encode goes.

    Sophocles,

I just want to say thank you for all of the time and the help that you have given us in this thread. If I ever have the chance to meet you, the first beer is on me.

Your welcome and I love good draft beer.:D

I know it seems like a big pan in the &#*+#@* but I think that we need to consider that perhaps you could have incompatible codecs install on your computer or hardware issue such as an overheated processor.

Click on this link and copy the application to a folder on your desktop, unzip it and run it when your re-encoding, if it's a two pass re-encode then pay close attention to the second pass.

Another thing that you can do is review your settings in the BD Rb configuration file in the same folder as BD Rb. Post it here. It will look like this.

Thanks Guys for you kind thoughts.

That's how it is for now but as all of you become experienced you'll be able tp join me in helping others to make BD RB a more commonly used application. It staggers my mind to think of how tedious it must be for jdobbs test and retest when it takes so long to complete a re-encode even on a fast system, and even then it might be a failed experiment which then requires a start over.

    Keep on burning!!

    Sophocles:

One last question for the moment - above you seem to indicate that if a BD video was encoded as MPEG2; then run through BD-RB, the x264 encoder would change the encoding to AVC? Or another "...more efficient..." encoding format? Am I correct in this assumption???

I'll have to wait till I run into a Mpeg2 encoded disc to see about this - it would be swell if you could clear this up for me...

And am I right that 'extras' are sometimes encoded in Mpeg2 and the Main Movie as AVC or VC-1?

Sorry for the off-topic comments below:

P.S. Of course my hat is off to J. Dobbs also - in addition to his tireless work - he replies to allot of Doom9 posts - you are a Mod for DVD Hounds - right - I got a welcome message from you - I believe - you must be very busy too - I am mostly a taker at this time - use to help in CD Freaks - Wife is having troubles now...

Yes, since it's a superior format requiring less space it only makes sense.

You've probably already ran across and MPEG 2 encoded BD discs. I don't know what the actual percentage is but I would say it's pretty high. I'll review some of my collection and post the ones that are here.

Giving jdobbs praise for his efforts is about as on topic as it gets. He spends an incredible amount of time making BD RB happen. Since he's against pirating he is constantly dipping into his own pocket to purchase different BD movies to test with whether he likes the movie or not. It's only through our donations that he is able keep pace with all the changes, but if we can't donate we can certainly afford to dole out a little well deserved praise.

Nope, I'm just a long standing member here at AD and all in all just one of you.

I suspect that AD is sending messages on my behalf.

Hmm! I wonder if I can get them to send a mothers-day gift to my wife?

I became a member of CD Freaks back on 2003 under a different nick, but it was AD that made feel at home.

I'm sorry to hear that. I hope things aren't too serious. My wife is also having some difficulties at this time. If there's anything that you'd like to talk about send me a PM.

Nice sig. It speaks to me.
