What concerns me is this hanging because it has all the mark of a Hardware issue. Try checking your processors heat during the re-encode.

I can not get Gran Torino to copy. I have tried it as full backup and movie only. Can this movie be copied?

I use a program called SpeedFan to monitor the temps in my PC. You can find it here.

How much space do you have left on your hard drive and if there is plenty then check for fragmentation?

    albionfog

Your issue seems to be that BD RB is unable to call up x.264. How many previous re-encodes have you had succeed?

In your BD RB folder there is a file labeled REG_MSCOMCTL. Right click on it and choose run as administrator and see if that helps.

I have done 21 successful movies a few were not re-encodes though just direct copy's. I will give that a try and see what happens.

There are a few BD movies out there that tends to elude everyone but the experienced so let's get radical. Sometimes errors crop up in the ini file so lets delete it (BDREBUILDER) and then retrace just BD RB's setup only. It's generally a good idea to select a single audio track to re-encode and observe the differences between what will work on the different disc sizes.

Have you had any successes yet?

Which version of Windows are you using again? I can't remember but is it Vista? Also I'm looking at this "Source Video: VC-1, 720x480, at 29.97 frames." The Source Video is VC-1 720X480?" It's not Blu-Ray compliant and I don't see any other video streams? There is also over 5 and a half hours of content. Try using a BD Disc that is being used among members such as Batman: Dark Knight and see how that works.

Something is preventing BD RB from calling up the encoder. On Vista that usually means that a file requires permission. If you have a software firewall that also can block an application from working. Although BD RB might appear to be working fine FFDSHOW or X.264 might not. There is a file in BD RB folder called "REG_MSCOMCTL" if you haven't already then right click on it with your mouse and choose run as administrator. It will either give it permission to run or indicate that it's running.

I agree with you that AMD will work with BD-RB and that they are cheaper, but there is some significant differences between Intel Core i7 chips and AMD (excluding the latest 6 core - which I know nothing about yet)AMD had to go to the drawing board after the core i7's release because the architecture of the new Intel chip was significantly better in several ways see HERE and HERE and if you have the time - there is a white paper HERE. I believe the big differences have to do with overall chip layout and QPI and scalable memory access - in some ways the i7 is similar to the AMD Phenom, but there are some differences which do make the i7 a faster - higher bandwidth CPU than the AMD's. I am no expert - but there are differences!!! Personally I wasted $300 on a i7 -950 instead of a 920 - there is a small voltage difference between the two - not worth the $300 though. Allot of folks are running 920's at 3.7 + - they won't last very long at that degree of o.c'ing - too much heat - voltages have to be set too high -IMO.

It might not make a difference - but I believe the consensus for vista and win7 is Mpeg2 set to libavcodec?

I was able to do Dark Knight on win7 x64 with older bd-rb version...Maybe Sophocles will see something else...
