I accidentally posted this in another thread, so I'll try again. I'm running xp home and sometimes i get a steady beep when I start it up. Everything seems to work but the beeping wont stop. So far a reboot stops it but something bad has to be going on. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Maybe a stuck keyboard key? When you say "steady beep", do you mean a continuous whine, or a constant beeping? How fast (approx.)?

its a steady continuous beep. Not too fast not too slow. The keyboard seems ok but i'll check again.

That happened to me once when I serviced a computer -- the ram was seated incorrectly. Have you done anything inside the computer? Try opening it up and checking that all the boards are seated correctly.

hey, did you touch insideof the pc when the beep starts??

if yes it can be that you have inserted some wiring bad.

about a year ago i had the same problem.

try the floppy wire that is conected to the mother board good luck
