I obviously hope the end is not near but VM will be switching to an encryption system that has not yet been cracked and they will be doing so in the very near future so it does not look good. I might be a newb but I have had a dodgy box for years so I know these guys have sorted it out loads of times in the past. However grateful I am I also accept that had they not been doing this then the sellers of the boxes would not have been able to continue to do so. So blind faith that these guys are doing it out of the goodness of their hearts is absurd. If there is no prospect of further sales I would not be surprised to see all support stop. Just as I do not expect a fix for the SV1.

Expect the worst and hope for the best.

They rolled at least once yesterday before lunch and sometime today, around an hour ago.
As I keep saying, they always roll. If you don't have your box on and on a channel that is encoded then you won't even notice that the CAM EMU is doing the job it always does and updates the box for you.

Sorry to disagree but the codes are the same today as Sunday when they last rolled.

Also in the past the codes have stayed the same as what was on the *removed*. In the Telewest area the keys always seem to stay the same until the next roll.

I'm in the West Midlands and they have just rolled. I notice according to info I have, Irish codes are the same since June 18.

you can disagree all you like. It does not alter the fact that all UK keys rolled yesterday and today. Just because you say it isn't so does not make it true.

also 'keys stay the same until the next roll' well duh! Of course they do. That's what a keyroll is. It's the point at which the keys change. All of the explanations you have had and you still don't seem to grasp what happens. Keys roll daily, they always do, this is how the encryption is meant to function.

The message you get is one everyone who is not viewing through an official STB gets. It does not mean they know who you are (although they do and are coming to get you in the morning).

Did you not say earlier that the keys change daily? You are contradicting your above quote then as the last key change in my area was on Sunday and the keys did not change until today!

If the keys changed daily as you have stated, then all the boxes (that have not had a new auto update installed since Sunday) would have been down and without service on Monday and Tuesday. The fact that they have been operational disproves your "theory" that the keys are always changing.

No offence intended and I look forward to you explaining that one.

    Thank you.

I don't have to explain it. I'm telling you that your assumption that there have been no keyrolls in your area, providing you live in the UK is incorrect as there have been keyrolls in all areas daily. I know there have because I posted the new keys on my blog as I have been doing each day.
I have a testbed machine not updated running all the time I am at my desk and I know the second the keys roll providing I'm not taking a leak.
The keyrolls happen across the UK ( not Ireland ) however the keys needed for the boxes are different for each headend network. When the keys roll they roll for everyone.
Nothing I say is contradictory. The keys continue to roll. f you have updated the firmware then you may not notice it happening because the CAM< EMU is doing it's job. Just because you have not had to change keys does not mean your box has not done the job for you. I can certainly say that no Eurovox or Starview 3/4 box that is still running the April firmware is currently working on Friday's keys. That is a physical impossibility because the keys have changed.

I can't explain it any more simply that that.

Once again, keys always roll, they always have done and they will continue to do so. If you can not understand that then that's an issue for you to take up with the educational establishment you attended but please stop insulting me by telling me I am wrong just because you don't know how things work.

You have provided no facts. You have stated your opinion that Telewest keys did not roll since Friday. They rolled yesterday at lunch and today at 10:30. I can only prove this by breaking forum rules but there it is. Those are my opinions. They differ from yours but as I said, the fact that you are unable to comprehend what has been told you by a number of people in a very simple manner means that you are able to come up with an opinion which is clearly wrong, but your inability to understand the technology makes you think you could be right.

It's been explained so simply that there must be chimpanzee's out there watching free cable by now.

I'm done with you, please stop telling me I am wrong based only on the one true fact here, the fact you are an idiot.

I can remember getting abusive in my teenage years when I had run out of steam while arguing. I will not lower myself to your childish behavior.

You do seem to be on another planet and its a pity that all you have in your bag of tricks is "facts" that you have made up as you go. It seems that no other member has anything to support your facts either (apart from abuse perhaps).

Please stop pretending you are knowledgeable in these matters and perhaps come back to advising people when you have completed a valid training course.

    Thanks for nothing!
