did you run the broadcom driver program? wifi is for wireless which you are not unless your router has antennas.
yes i installed the broadcom but when i restart my pc it comes up add new hardware Net but it cannot find the software and it has 1 antenna so i will use wi-fi
ok it says that the belkin is connected in network connections but i cannot connect to the internet power wireless and number 1 are lit solid no other lights are on i got onto the belkin setup utility (192.168.2.1) and i followed a guide i downloaded and did evrything it said and left the access point as 192.168.0.254 which is the default how do i get onto the internet
does your computer have a wireless card or adapter on it? did the broadcom make a folder that it went into while decompressing & attempted to install?
yes it made a folder not sure about wireless card or adapter as i not that ggod with these things my pc is a dell gx280 optiplex
when it finds new hardware then send it to that broadcom folder so can find & load the driver. what does it show for netcards in device manager?
its hows the broadcom and somethin else and then an unknown with a yellow exclamation mark on it i will put a pic on when i get in as i am out will this get the belkin on the net
on my device manager in network adapters there is Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit Controller Motorola surfboard SB5101 USB Cable Moden and then ther is an unknown with a yellow exclamation mark and in other devices there are video controller and video controller ( VGA Compatable ) both with yellow exclamation marks o n and that dell thing does not work but its installed
i hope you were not hooked up to the modem via the usb cable & to the router via ethernet cable from the broadcom netcard? download & install all your drivers from that dell link i posted as your videcard is not installed besides others.
which drivers i wont need all will i? and i have got the belkin off now and i have to use the blue usb into my surfboard to get an internet connection but when i try get a connection for the belkin i remove the blue usb
load the drivers that you are missing from that list. the fact you have the broadcom netcard showing in device manager is good. disconnect the power & data cables to the modem & count 20 seconds. reconnect the power & data cables in that order. connect router to modem & pc & make certain usb cable is not attached to modem & pc at that time. might have to do a restart of pc but do that last if does not connect to net the 1st time. might be slow to connect the 1st time so have some patience as will post normal afterwards.
it should work as i use that method when setting up a system that was on a modem but has to now go thru a router 1st before going thru modem.
how do i know what drivers i need it only says unknown device in network adapters and then in other devices it says video controller and one below it video controller ( VGA Compatable )
are you using the builtin video or is it a videocard? builtin will be among your usb, parallel & game ports. videocard will be in expansion slot.
just tried what you said with the wires and it said there is limited or no connection so i cannot get internet and i have the add new hardware thing comin up whic says Net can you help please
