Maybe someone here can help me out. I have a BenQ 1620 16X burner with Windows XP installed. Whenever I try to burn a DVD( for whatever reason: Movie, Data, Music etc.) It will burn up to about 50 percent and then not complete. When Using nero burning rom I notice that this will happen as soon as the buffer reads 0% for any amount of time. When this happens the red light on my drive goes green and the burn process hangs for ever. I've updated the firmware from BenQ to the latest drivers and still no change. Does anybody no what's going on here?

My BenQ 1620 did better when i moved it to a #2 IDE as Master. When it was slave on IDE#1, all kinds of problems. Works good now.

Check your IDE channels in device manager. Make sure they are set to DMA not PIO. In PIO mode the data transfer is very slow and could cause buffer problems.
