@syxguns--I can't find a guide..unless I didn't look hard enough...on how to upload an attachment. I ran "dxdiag" and I want to upload the results for you to also...I'm still in the process of Adware etc etc... How do I attach to a reply? U can point me in a direction if need be. I can look it up. Thanks @binkie7--Hey Bink...did you give up on me hun LOOOOLLL
Well, there are a couple of ways to present the information to me. The easiest way is to drag you cursor over the entire document from top to bottom. After everything is highlighted you can hold down the Ctrl (Control) button and press the letter C. This will copy the text, then once you are ready to past the text press Ctrl V. All of the text you had highlighted will be displayed in your post. Now if you want to do a screen image you will have to press the PrtScrn (Print Screen) button. Then you will have to open a program that allows you to view it. Adjust the image to the way you want to present it. Then depending on the size of the image you want to display you will have to convert it to a jpeg or bmp. Before you may show the image you have someone host the image. Photobucket.com is where I host mine. For example my sig is hosted there, along with a few screen shots I have used for examples. Make sure you are running all of the programs in safe mode with the exception of Hijack This. I hope your system is filthy...I only say that because I want to get it cleaned and then your system run great. Don't forget to run a Disk Defrag. In fact before you run it run Scan Disk. all of these tasks are things that should be run pretty regularly anyway. And I have to admit that you are learning valuable secrets.
Actually...the odds of my system being filthy are slim to none. I'm sick with system maintenance. I defrag at least twice a day through windows...Registry mechanic scan anytime i add/delete/move/change anything etc etc..counterspy every day...zonelabs system scans every other with antispam anit spy...i dump cookies and cache all the time...i'm real good on that as all problems root to lack of maintenance... You can't sit back and cry about system performance etc etc when you don't clean and keep up your system...you know. Check this out...i called IBM..I'm throwing in the towle...Turns out I have another year in home parts/labor warranty. I thought I had 2 years but I bought the extra year in home service 24hr ship warranty. This started with their drive and it's there problem now. They're sending me a new DVD ROM FREEEEE another new IDE cable FREEE power source is on hold as the tech on the phone strongly thinks its the slot on the board or something to do with the board. When I call them back and tell them the new drive isn't working they're sending a tech to my home at my convienence...So when they have my system working 100 percent as I'm going to use every ounce of that warranty..then I'll upgrade the burner from that point...but they can fix the current problem. I'm done.. Thank you very very much for all of your help. I have learned a lot from you in a short period of time. I backed it all up and I'll share with others...you can count on that. But it's time to put this one to bed. If you know a good moderator..tell them to close this out..its IBMs problem now...LOOOOOOOOL Talk to you soon my friend
Let us know how it goes. Good luck, and when you learn what the problem is let us know. Thanks it's been a pleasure. By the way I think registry mechanic sucks! I've heard that it runs all the time and is known to cause more problems than it solves. Get some of the free stuff Microsoft offers. They have a program for XP called Windows Defender, CCleaner (registry sweep), and a few more. They are well worth the price...FREE!!)
I recently had a problem with my pc not recognizing my 1650 although it recognized it in the bios, the problem turned out to be that I had a faulty IDE cable even although it would recognize my old drive, so if you havent tried using a different cable give it a shot
LOOOOOOOOLLLL Tell me how you really feel Man..everytime I buy something it's the wrong thing...i'm going with freeeeeee from now on. You really can't beat free. I bought DVD Cloner when it was DVD Cloner 2 and upgraded I got wacked on that.. I bought a Flextor..that be a Fake Plextor...got wacked on that..but thats going back tomorrow. Now my registry mechanic. LOOOOL I'll download and try it...Live and Learn syx
@ dutchmo That was going to be the last thing I mentioned to him, but I wanted to check out his system first. I would have hated for him to buy a new power supply and that not solve his problem. I did ask him to hook up only that drive and it still skipped but not as bad. That was a good point to make. @ jrocc019 Yeah, in most cases sticking to the free stuff is the best way to go. Why buy Registry Mechanic when it really doesn't do anything. That is why I told you to download Hijack This. It will scan your registry and if you post the results we can tell you what to remove. Some are better than I am, but I can still get rid of a lot of bugs in your system. The registry is where they like to hide. They also like to hide in your start up files. That is why I tell you to run your scans in safe mode. Live and learn and if you are looking for free software just ask. Someone knows where to get it.
@dutchmo--Thanks for the reply dutchmo. @ syx..I'm going to download that hijack this. I have it on my system at work but never really used it. I actually did go out and buy a power source...but I have an IBM and naturally nothing can easily be swapped. Oh well...warranty=free LOL I'm taking that back tomorrow..well today..and the plex is going back. I have 150 bucks coming back to me. I can't wait!! Then I'll come home and download some freeeee hijack this. I'll post the results anyway. I don't have to stop learing while i'm waiting on IBM right? Anyway I'm going to bed this time...syx do you ever sleep? LOOL
@jrocc019 I live in Texas. It's hot weather has put us about an hour behind you. It's just now midnight on my side of town. Good Night.
@Jrocc019 Nah I didn't give up on ya hun :0) - I wouldnn't leave you stranded. I knew you were in good hands w/ syxguns too! Had BSOD on one of my pc's so had to deal with that then go have a few Keep us posted on the outcome! And no you don't have to stop learning while waiting for IBM Just my 2 cents - but this is a pretty good thread to learn from!
@binkie7 Hi Bink!! I know you wouldn't do that. Us Marylanders stick together even if you are from Dundalk..oh wait..thats me..LOOOL Hey I tried your advice to0 this morning after getting my $100 buks back from my Flextor. Swapped the BenQ to the slave position and the LG IBM Multi to master. The Q doesn't skip any way near what it did in slave mode and Multi is fine in the Master on the IDE. It's like a piece of corn stuck in my teeth..LOOOL So it's either the board, driver for the board, or the power supply. But free fix is where I'm at now. I am going to root around on IBMs site and see if there is a driver update for my board. Might get lucky. BSOD...hmmmm not sure I follow ya hun..But go have a few..yes..i've done that several times LOOOL
jrocc019 Here is a free program that is good to have. http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_description/0,fid,7357,tfg,tfg,00.asp
syxguns Thanks syx..I'll check it out. I'm doing some clean up from all of the downloads now. I checked IBM's website and tried the FLASH BIOS update but my BIOS is up to date. darn I didn't see any motherboard driver updates or anything so i may have to go digging to see what motherboard i have. I'm getting ready to run the hijack this now and I'm going to get that free registry cleaner from Microsoft. I have to scroll back through here to find it. Hey jrocc019 Hmmm now I know to stay away from Dundalk if i want to buy any burners - a fake Plextor called Flextor! And $100 too! Or were you down buying from a vendor in Lexington Market Try newegg.com - real ones are about the same. Well this just gets deeper with latest test - one drive works fine on both connectors and the benQ works better but not quite on the slave. I'm stuck. But that's what warranties are for! Post your Hijack This log - syxguns can go thru it cause I'd def. need help on that. Oh and bsod = blue screen of death
@ binkie7 Bink..I wouldn't come to Dundalk for anything if I didn't live here LOOOOL Pextor 750-A is not a real Plextor drive from what I've been reading. It is a rebadgged tcc or something but its not a Plextor. Plextor stuck it on the market while they were developing the new 18x 760A. They wanted to be the first to the market with 18x DL burn capabilities. Little FYI for ya. Hijack this install didn't go successful. My firewall keeps blocking access to the link syx provided so I have to go around it somehow or try another site. OUCH on the BSOD..that stinks..sorry to hear @syxguns I'll try to re-download hijack this again and run it/post. I did download the Hmonitor..but it's only a trial version and only displays my HDD temp. @ both...Oh by the way..if you have a best buy near either of you..they have verbatim 16x DVD-/+ R 50pk on sale 14.99. Ok..I have the hijack this log: Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 3:34:52 PM, on 7/9/2006 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\LEXBCES.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\LEXPPS.EXE C:\Program Files\APC\APC PowerChute Personal Edition\mainserv.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\LightScribe\LSSrvc.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VS7DEBUG\MDM.EXE C:\Program Files\Dantz\Retrospect Express HD\retrorun.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ZoneLabs\vsmon.exe C:\Program Files\Wireless-G Portable USB Adapter\WLService.exe C:\Program Files\Wireless-G Portable USB Adapter\WUSB54GP.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ZoneLabs\isafe.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\Program Files\Sunbelt Software\CounterSpy\Consumer\sunThreatEngine.exe C:\Program Files\Sunbelt Software\CounterSpy\Consumer\SunProtectionServer.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ICO.EXE C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI Control Panel\atiptaxx.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\issch.exe C:\Program Files\Sunbelt Software\CounterSpy\Consumer\sunserver.exe C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\bin\jusched.exe C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zlclient.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe C:\Program Files\APC\APC PowerChute Personal Edition\apcsystray.exe C:\PROGRA~1\ZONELA~1\ZONEAL~1\MAILFR~1\mantispm.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero StartSmart\NeroStartSmart.exe C:\Program Files\Ahead\nero\nero.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\imapi.exe C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe C:\DOCUME~1\JASONS~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\Temporary Directory 1 for hijackthis.zip\HijackThis.exe O2 - BHO: AcroIEHlprObj Class - {06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3} - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 5.0\Reader\ActiveX\AcroIEHelper.ocx O2 - BHO: (no name) - {08E74C67-99A6-45C7-94DA-A397A8FD8082} - (no file) O2 - BHO: DriveLetterAccess - {5CA3D70E-1895-11CF-8E15-001234567890} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\dla\tfswshx.dll O2 - BHO: SSVHelper Class - {761497BB-D6F0-462C-B6EB-D4DAF1D92D43} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\bin\ssv.dll O3 - Toolbar: Easy-WebPrint - {327C2873-E90D-4c37-AA9D-10AC9BABA46C} - C:\Program Files\Canon\Easy-WebPrint\Toolband.dll O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [BluetoothAuthenticationAgent] rundll32.exe irprops.cpl,,BluetoothAuthenticationAgent O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Mouse Suite 98 Daemon] ICO.EXE O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ATIPTA] "C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI Control Panel\atiptaxx.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [UC_Start] C:\IBMTools\Updater\ucstartup.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ISUSPM Startup] C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\INSTAL~1\UPDATE~1\ISUSPM.exe -startup O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ISUSScheduler] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\issch.exe" -start O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Openwares LiveUpdate] C:\Program Files\LiveUpdate\LiveUpdate.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dla] C:\WINDOWS\system32\dla\tfswctrl.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunServer] C:\Program Files\Sunbelt Software\CounterSpy\Consumer\sunserver.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Lexmark X1100 Series] "C:\Program Files\Lexmark X1100 Series\lxbkbmgr.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\bin\jusched.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Zone Labs Client] "C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zlclient.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NeroFilterCheck] C:\WINDOWS\system32\NeroCheck.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [ctfmon.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background O4 - Global Startup: APC UPS Status.lnk = ? Hey Jrocc019 Yeah - Dundalk is not my destination of choice hun :0) No worries on the bsod - my fault (stupidity really -lol) I fixed it. I wasn't getting up from that pc til I did!! That's my burning pc!! For media - check out this site - it's where I buy my Taiyo's: http://supermediastore.com We'll let syxguns look thru the hijack this log - I need to learn that myself!
@ jrocc019 Well, I must say that I am impressed. Your machine does seem to be quite clean. There were only a few things that I saw that could be removed. [bold]Place a check beside these items then select fix checked button[/bold] On the other program that I suggested that you download I wanted to see what temp. your CPU (Central Processing Unit) was running at. The program is only free for a month but it gives you an opportunity to make sure you are not overheating your system. As long as your CPU is not running hotter than 65 Celsius on average then you should be fine. An occasional spike is expected from time to time. If your CPU is running higher than that you might think about changing your CPU fan or your power supply. All in all your computer seems to be quite fit. The only thing that I can possibally think of is that you might want to change your power supply. That seems to be the last piece of info I can give. Keeping your system clean seems to be something you are already familiar with. Talk to you later
@ binkie7--Hi bink...glad to hear the system is back up and running. I actually ordered my Taiyo's from mertline and they are taking forever to get here. I'm going to get the next batch from newegg. They're shipping is really fast. @syxguns--Why thank you syx..I'm honored..Actually for awhile there that was all I knew how to do was clean my system LOOOL But I have embrased the logic of a clean system as the foundation for any project. I fixed the items from the log thanks for the input. Is it weird that the 1655 is writing ok???? I just ripped/compressed with my Multiburner and wrote the files with the BenQ and not a glitch. I'm in the process right now of watching the movie and it's perfect?
