    Hi,
Just a few lines. Thanks folks for the compliments.
One of the things I've noticed recently,if SB is enabled. Writing @ 4x is unhealthy if 16x media is being used. I had to reflash my drive to 'wake it up' after my trial @ different speeds (I wrote @ 16x then 12 x 8x & finally 4x). MCC 03EG20/MCC 004 appear to support 4x 8x 12x 16x strategies quite well, when SB is disabled.
The quality/consistancy of this media lately is however questionable. I myself am migrating to Taiyo Yuden.
Write speeds are dependant on system (a fact most are aware of). If top notch you may be able to write @ 16x not only with 16x media. But TY 8x media can yield surprising results in this area.
For most of us 12x is probably gonna give the best speed/quality burns. I know a lot of folks see 8x as the one when it comes to quality. But take a look at my scans & @ 8x both PIE/PIF are very high in comparison. So it could pay to experiement for yourself in this respect.

    Hi.
Just a few scans with TYG02 8x unbranded. Again SB/OS/WOPC enabled for all media. As writing @ 4x gave me problems last time, I've excluded it. So only 8x 12x & 16x this time.

Obviously in this case the results differ. This is down to both the fact different media, but also medias' speed rating. The interesting thing here for me, is how 16x performs better than 12x. In fact at this rate you could almost question whether there's any difference in 8x & 16x TY. Before anybody throws a wobbly, I know there is.

Office Depot's 100 pk spindles for $20 during their memorial day sale.

Here's the +16x which code as Ritek-P16-using my Benq 1620 with over 3500+ backups:

    Burned at 4x:

Looks like I'll stick with 8x on these.

Hi guys. I haven't had a chance to make too many burns but this is the third MCC 003 I tried. This one was burned at 4X after I found 8X and 12X to be disappointing.

    Well,just maybe? LOL

The x-rated version of Broke Back Mountain. It's the only version I'll watch. Get this, and the name is:

    [bold]Broke Crack Mountain[/bold], LOL

I just love those porno versions of regular movies and tv shows. I always get a chuckle at some of those names, LOL

    Edit:

    Here's that Office Depot +16x Ritek-P16 burned at 16x on my Benq 1620.Looked good,until the last half;

ironically, i tried burning the 3rd disc in this dvd set @4x (juss for fun and to see if my POOR 4x burns in the past were a fluke or not) :)

my scores are MUCH lower when burned slower ON MY SETUP, opposite of your results neph~ :)

all options/features remained the same, only thing changed was the BURN SPEED...@4x~ :p

    docTY~

wow...nice scan!! To get PI Errors under 1 do i need a high end computer or should i be able to get it with the right media and right burn speed? My computer is a P4 2.8 (400fsb), 1GB Ram (2100), Benq 1620 and 1650, windows xp sp 2 (not sure what motherboard i have...probably some crappy stuff haha). Also will it affect the PI Errors etc if i have other programs running (the other programs are low on memory and cpu) while i'm burning ?

    Nope.

    Absolutely.

I recommend leaving the PC alone while burning but there are other that will disagree. Try it either way and see what you get scan wise.
