Hi zebadee,I downloaded BSRB but have not flashed any of my 1640's yet.I did crossflash my two I/O-Magics over to BenQ 1670's 1.02 firmware using the MCSE.Now they have limited use of Q-Suite four tabs avaliable (Information, booktype,Qscan and test write tabs only)no Solidburn,WOPC are Overspeed to play with like my 1640's and 1655's.The burns have been excellent though and after rebate's and coupon's they only cost $15.00 each from Staple's sale last mounth so i think i came out OK for the price i paid:)

    @zebadee
BSRB is not very good, read cdfreaks!

The thing about burning the @16x media in 12X,16X speeds is really, the 'quality consistency'
you may get good scores but you'll get a few bad ones

a post that i already submitted in the TY thread
burned 8x speed fw BSQB MCC004
    [IMG]

the next one is what i get from time to time with 12x,16x(for both formats)

    Hi,
    @ realrocky.
If you've looked at cdf you'd notice that I spend a bit of time there. I not only get very good results with BSRB. But results are consistant too. 80% of my media is 16x rated. The TYG02 as your probably aware is 8x. Yet many users get excellent results @ both 12x & 16x. This with a variety of drives + different f/w.
I burn all my backups etc @ 16x. My failure rate is less than 1%.
PIE max less than 10 max - PIF max less than 5 max - Jitter below 10% - QS higher than 96%. This is excluding the initial learning process (1st 5 discs) & applies to my BenQ drives.

I'm looking to get a new and better DVD burner, I have read BenQ drives are excellent, but which one should I get. I need suggestions, I've never had a BenQ and I've only ever used a Lite-On for my back-ups. Though I get pretty good scores with my Lite-On, lately it seems to be giving out unusally bad burns.

    Hi,
XxRUINSxX as creaky has said. Probably best to stick with the f/w that the drive comes with for now. Both BCDC & BCFC seem to be the most popular. But it's about what works for you. Try out your drive & only if not happy with the results bother flashing it.

yeah, i'm just waiting for newer firmware (if we ever see any) to see if the MCC004 anomalies that i've experienced (and detailed further up the thread), are ever resolved

a few pages back, there are wierd errors in Nero logs with Benq DW1650, in the last 3 firmware revs; the MCC004 burnt/played back fine but as i couldn'd any info on the net (not even at cdfreaks) i returned a few hundred MCC004. I've just bought a few hundred MCC003, they're burning up a storm on my laptop with no errors/flawless playback, but we shall see how my Benq's cope with them when i get back on dry land. Even if they give similar Nero errors i guess as long as they playback fine/crc check ok then i'll let it slide...but it's damn annoying that i couldn't find much info on the error. i'll have a mooch around cdfreaks after work as it's been some months since i mooched for the error

    8X +R TY's burned @8X with Imgburn.

8X +R TY's burned at 14X with NEC 3540, a mistake that turned out pretty good.

Verb DL burned at 2.4X with Imgburn in build mode.

Anything above what you are looking for creaky, or where you looking for a Nero log recognizing the media?

Creak (and others) have you been checking out the latest LiteON's, as they bought the BenQ ODD production, I am pretty sure that we can/will see some BenQ technology, like WOPC, implemented there.

The optical recorder business has a reputation to kill good vendors, as a product generation matures. Yamaha used to make excellent CD-RWs but never made it to DVD generation. BenQ is not the only DVD-R manufacturer in trouble - I bet there are more mergers ahead, while some will push the next gen. as hard as they can to remain profitable.
